[Bug 325958] Re: Jaunty Alpha 4: Ubiquity windows does not fit on 1024x600 screen
I didn't read the previous comments in detail, and I didn't know any vendor was still selling netbooks with 480-pixel-high displays. If catering for those displays is a priority, I suggest that Ubiquity automatically start full-screen whenever the display is less than 550px or so high. That way, the panels and title bar won't be taking up vertical space. -- Jaunty Alpha 4: Ubiquity windows does not fit on 1024x600 screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 352321] [NEW] mysql queries lose results
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0 Problem tested on: Ubuntu Hardy Heron (Server) On certain (mostly large) queries that use nested joins, when using LEFT JOIN's with tables which are empty, other joins seem to also to be evaluated as empty although they shouldn't be. As soon as I add a dummy entry to the empty table (which is not joined because of the on clause) the results are correct This seems to be a problem of the query optimizer. Following example query leads to the problems. (The empty table is a20_1_temp. The table join for a20_1_shop_element is then evaluated as empty) Unfortunately I couldn't make the query less complex as I did here as the bug doesn't appear then any more. I can provide a database setup script to create the database if needed. I can confirm that yakuake segfaults (not freezing) after setting width or height different to defaults. [Bug 352322] [NEW] startx from CD boot fails on nvidia card
Public bug reported: I have just tried booting my laptop with the live CD from the Ubuntu 9.04 beta release. The boot fails to start the desktop, putting the computer into a command line prompt. A quick check shows that xwindows failed to start. When I run sudo startx It reports that no screens found I get the same behavior with the safe graphics mode option. I also get the same behavior with 8.1, which also had the MP-BIOS bug:8254 Timer not connected problem. This confuses the problem with 8.10, but with 9.04 the bios problem has gone, but the xwindows problem remains. So it is fair to assume they are not related. In the case of 8.04 the entire system works perfectly (with the exception of the webcam) The laptop is a Clevo D901c with # Intel Core 2 QUAD # SLI ENABLED DUAL nVidia 9800M GTX Video Cards The configuration is obviously that which is shipped with the CD. An isolated partition obtains the same behavior. But as I know nothing about xwindows, I don't know how to change the config files. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- startx from CD boot fails on nvidia card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352322 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
I experienced this bug as well. I tried all the fixes in this thread as well as other sites but nothing worked. Sometimes my usb would die and lose all power and a restart wouldn't even bring back power. I could unplug and replug in my flash drive and it would be assigned a new address or I would have to totally shut down and reboot to reset my usb system. That made me think that the kernel was making my usb system crash at the bios level. I disabled my usb 2.0 in bios and it worked but I had usb 1 transfer speeds. So I disabled bios legacy support and re- enabled bios 2.0 on chip contoller. It again caused my usb to crash on large files and caused a slow down in transfers on small files. I read about plug and play crashing the usb on another thread (http://marc.info/?l=linux-usb-develm=106789579416232w=2) and looked in my plug and play configurations in my bios. There was a option to assign irq to usb that was enabled. I disabled it and now have had no problems with transferring files. I think some people with this problem might be helped by this fix. I have award bios (not sure the version) and am running ubuntu 8.04.1 fully patched Chad -- ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 325958] Re: Jaunty Alpha 4: Ubiquity windows does not fit on 1024x600 screen
It does not matter if any vendor is currently selling such netbooks or not. I don't think this is a reasonable condition upon which it should be decided whether to support 800x480 screens or not. My notebook is no longer produced, does that mean we should drop support for it? Just because nothing was done to support those screens during the first netbook boom doesn't mean nothing should be done now. Granted, it is a small part of the install base, but they do exist and because of that they should be supported. If this is too hard and/or late to do now it should be deferred to Karmic, but it should be done. -- Jaunty Alpha 4: Ubiquity windows does not fit on 1024x600 screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 352351] [NEW] ftp ssl broken with Ubuntu update to openssl - 03/30/09
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kftpgrabber Bug encountered on: - Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 KFTPgrabber 0.8.1-2 (kftpgrabber_0.8.1-2_amd64.deb) libssl0.9.8 (0.9.8g-10.1ubuntu2.2) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/0.9.8g-10.1ubuntu2.2 seems pretty cut and dry. Yesterday, ssl was working fine, today it's not. 03/30/09 - Ubuntu Update Manager has an update for Openssl libs. After installing updates, ssl no longer is working in KFTPgrabber. Re- installing KFTPgrabber makes no difference. ** Affects: kftpgrabber (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ftp ssl broken with Ubuntu update to openssl - 03/30/09 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
