[Bug 851616] Re: Regression - software center some texts messed up (RTL)
Seems to me like the placement of the stars is prefect - for example, if you look at the highlighted selection in the above screenshot you will see that there's a big space from the right to the beginning of the label. If you would align the string to the right then is looks like there's enough room and the stars would not overlap the label. One more thing I noticed which might be very helpful: Each cell of a program summary has two lines - The First is the program name and the second is a short description (in smaller font). If the description line (2nd line) is longer than the name line (1st line) then this bug occurs (otherwise it doesn't - the stars don't overlap text). Note that when it happens, the 1st line is aligned to the end of the 2nd line. That's probably the cause of this bug - the 1st and 2nd lines are somehow connected and both are aligned to the left of the longest label. Or, maybe you implemented this by using a single multi-line label and for some reason the text is aligned to the left in this single label. in other cases where the 1st line is the longer one you can see the stars don't overlap the program name but note that the 2nd line is aligned to the end of the 1st line which is also looks kind of buggy for RTL users. You can see example for that in the above screenshot in the 3rd program with the mms, wavpack, quicktine... name. I hope the above observation I made is clear enough. I'm pretty sure it's what caused this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/851616 Title: Regression - software center some texts messed up (RTL) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/851616/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 847782] Re: installer writes a permanent ethernet entry in interfaces file
Hi Clint Thanks for the changes in failsafe.conf, neat work! A ten second countdown would probably give slightly better feedback to the user (but it isn't essential or anything): $PLYMOUTH message --text=Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration... || : sleep 10 $PLYMOUTH message --text=Waiting up to 50 more seconds for network configuration... || : sleep 10 $PLYMOUTH message --text=Waiting up to 40 more seconds for network configuration... || : sleep 10 [etc] I also tested removing the iface eth0 and there is no delay, so the fix to bug #838968 seems to be working ok, which will alleviate the situation here I'm not convinced that normal installs lead to 'auto ethX' in /etc/network/interfaces. Only installs that started life without network-manager will have it, which is certainly not the norm. Yes, that was the initial understanding. However, comment #5 by Robert Hooker seemed to indicate that this is not the case (wouldn't the normal live CD always initiate NetworkManager). But I downloaded the Beta 1 live CD, burned a USB image and I still couldn't reproduce Robert's observation. [Bug 851864] [NEW] Unity shell crashes on login
Public bug reported: At login, Unity fails to start, leaving me with just the top panel, permanently showing the Desktop menus, and the Desktop itself, but no launcher, no dash, no indicators and no keyboard shortcuts. The Desktop itself works, for example I can create a folder, open it and then open a file from Nautilus. Applications launched this way seem to work correctly, but no window management function is available. If I run compiz --replace in a terminal from a Unity 2D session, I get this: Checking if settings need to be migrated ...no Checking if internal files need to be migrated ...no Backend : gconf Integration : true Profile : default Adding plugins Skipping upgrade com.canonical.unity.unity.01.upgrade Skipping upgrade com.canonical.unity.unity.02.upgrade Initializing core options...done GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Connection is closed GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Connection is closed GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Connection is closed GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Connection is closed GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Connection is closed (compiz:546): Gdk-WARNING **: The application 'compiz' lost its connection to the display :0; most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed the application. I cannot run unity --reset because of bug #778470 This seems to be related to the latest unity or compiz update, as it happened on the first login after the update.
