[Bug 1223555] Re: OpenShot Crash at videospeed x5 / x10 / ...

2013-09-11 Thread Andy Finch
To help narrow down the problem, please can you try speeding up your
videos using ffmpeg melt:

for ffmpeg, something like this:

ffmpeg -i input.mkv -filter:v 'setpts=0.5*PTS' output.mkv

for melt, I don't know the exact cmd line syntax to use, so create a
simple project in OpenShot that has the problem. Then use the menu item
FileExport XML to create an xml file that can be parsed by melt, such
as:

melt filename.xml

By doing this, we can see if the problem is in ffmpeg, MLT or OpenShot.

OpenShot is developed for GTK. If Unity doesn't function properly with

Maybe Canonical can contribute some development time to upstream
projects if they expect applications to work properly with their custom

[Bug 927755] Re: Dragging video to timeline eats RAM

2012-02-06 Thread Andy Finch
What is the source of this file? I've tried it on Openshot 1.4.2 and it
doesn't eat all the memory, it gets imported as a zero length file.

MLT (melt) shows the message [matroska @ 0x8620be0]Estimating duration
from bitrate, this may be inaccurate.

FFMpeg shows:

[matroska @ 0x91680e0]Unknown entry 0xFF
Last message repeated 3 times
[matroska @ 0x91680e0]Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate
Input #0, matroska, from 'openshot_test.mkv':
  Metadata:

I use Linux Mint 11, MLT 0.7.6, FFMpeg 0.6.4.

Whatever authored the mkv file is probably at fault, it looks to have
generatde a bad file, FFMpeg can't determine the length.

12.04 includes an old version (just for a change) of MLT (0.7.4), the
situation might improve if the latest version is used. Or it might be
due to changes in FFMpeg since 0.6.4, it's difficult to tell.

[Bug 719091] Re: Can't upload to YouTube

2011-10-30 Thread Andy Finch
Later versions of Ubuntu have the required version of python-gdata (as
mentioned by IRIE). So this shouldn't be a problem any more on the
latest versions. For earlier versions of Ubutu, please use the PPA
linked by IRIE.

[Bug 758827] [NEW] Natty Beta 1 Live CD Freeze during boot

2011-04-12 Thread Andy Finch
Public bug reported:

When booting from the CD, the whole system freezes and becomes
unresponsive. Occasionally, it has made it as far as getting to the
desktop, but it then freezes within a minute or so of doing so. The most
common freeze point is the screen where you can select to Try Ubuntu or
Install Ubuntu, but it has frozen at other points too.

I've tried the noapic/nolapic options but the situation remains the
same.

Not sure what information I can provide to help debug the issue -
memtest reports an Intel P45/G45 chipset, CPU is an Intel Q8200. The CD
has been checked (Md5/checked for errors) without issue.

As a bit of background, the last version of Ubuntu to work on this
hardware is 9.10 - everything since then has resulted in the desktop
freezing within a minute or two of starting.

[Bug 620871] Re: Open Shot segfaults at launch

2010-08-26 Thread Andy Finch
This is probably caused by using libcairo2 1.9.6-6~mrw4, from the
ppa:matthaeus123/mrw-insane-build PPA. You need to downgrade back to the
Ubuntu package version 1.8.10-2ubuntu1 of libcairo2. The reason for the
segfault is that Openshot uses the python bindings for libcairo, the PPA
does not include an updated version of the python bindings to match the
updated libcairo version.

[Bug 482985] Re: openshot won't open in Ubuntu 9.10

If you're getting this error:

*** ERROR: MLT Python bindings failed to import ***
Exception in thread Thread-1:
Traceback (most recent call last):

mlt.Factory().init()
NameError: global name 'mlt' is not defined

then it is usually the case that there is a previous installation of MLT
hanging around on your machine. This could be from an earlier install of
Openshot (maybe via the .deb installer, or a previous PPA, or from a
kdenlive PPA or something). Either way, you should uninstall Openshot
and then ensure the previous version of MLT is fully uninstalled. Check
there are no MLT files in the folder:

/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
This could be a problem with the servers getting overloaded. Could you try it
again? You might also want to check you are connecting to the best server:

In System/Admin/Software Sources, in the drop down beside Download From
Select Other
When the new window pops up, make sure your country is selected, then on the
right click, Select best server.

If you still don't have any luck, please could you add all the files
