[Bug 2060028] [NEW] [Noble] No VRR is shown in GNOME Shell 46

2024-04-02 Thread Francois Thirioux
Public bug reported:

Hi,

mutter (46.0-1ubuntu6)
gnome-shell (46.0-0ubuntu3.1)
VRR activated in dconf/mutter

I did restart my computer after VRR was activated in dconf.

[Bug 2059786] [NEW] [noble] Huge prompt for encrypted disk pwd

2024-03-29 Thread Francois Thirioux
Public bug reported:

Hi,

plymouth (24.004.60-1ubuntu6) noble

I get a huge prompt asking my luks-encrypted disk, at early start-up.

Seems to be linked to screen resolution as I experience this bug only on
my 2560x1440 external screen, not the 1900x1200 one. Only 1 monitor is
active in both cases.

This bug is marked as fixed upstream:

[Bug 1965507] [NEW] [jammy] New GS 42 colors management leaves GNOME session incomplete

2022-03-18 Thread Francois Thirioux
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Playing with new GS colors... Thanks for that moment.

Well, that new feature is cool in Ubuntu session.
But in GNOME session, you do not have any Appearance tab in g-c-c.

In a GNOME session, you can change colors back through Tweaks, anyway, after
have set them in an Ubuntu session.
But I did not find how to change the Shell light/dark variant (without dconf).
So I get "this wallpaper will only apply for the light style" under the
wallpaper's image in corresponding g-c-c, but I cannot change the Shell style.

Would it be possible to make the light/dark new shell style selection
available for GNOME session? Or having a light/dark shell style
selection in Tweaks?

Yes, I tried again tonight and it does work.
Very odd because it did not when I reported this, of course.

[Bug 1963911] [NEW] [snap] paste in composer does not work

2022-03-07 Thread Francois Thirioux
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I switched (again!) from TB deb to TB snap (in Jammy), following the Firefox
official way.
Well, today I try to copy my calendar (Ctrl-Shift-PrintScreen) then paste in a
new message as an image (Ctrl-V or Paste in menu). Nothing happens.

The image is copied as I can paste it to LibreOffice.

This bug is not present in TB deb.

[Bug 1934697] Re: Default keyring password keeps resetting if set to empty

2021-12-09 Thread Francois Thirioux
I maybe experience the same issue: seahorse keeps (randomly after
session start) asking me a password to unlock keyring. The point is that
I set a void keyring pwd avery time and it's resetted every time.

I have full-disk-encryption too... but I kept a gdm login pwd after boot.
Ubuntu 22.04 dev, up to date.

[Bug 1945967] Re: rtw89 kernel module for Realtek 8852 wifi is missing

2021-11-19 Thread Francois Thirioux
FYI I did experience such hard reboots (very annoying, for sure!) with lwfinger
dkms driver, but never (never) since some time and especially since Ubuntu did
include rtw89 in 5.15 kernel.
Maybe I'm lucky, or that's solved.

2021-10-11 Thread Francois Thirioux
Some recent kernel reviewing updates:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-wireless/list/?series=559649

Could anyone from kernel team tell us what's the plan here?
Are we waiting for reviewing to be completed?
At the moment, rt 8852a users rely on a third party package, so that's not good
either... :-)

[Bug 1944447] Re: refresh-app-awareness=true does not seem to concern dependencies

2021-09-21 Thread Francois Thirioux
Ok I've done some logs-crawling.

17h22, gnome snap refreshed

Just 1 minute after that, some Firefox logs:
ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 40921

Maybe that's a random crash, I'm not able to make the difference...! But
FF snap nowadays crashes once a day, no more.

[Bug 1944447] [NEW] refresh-app-awareness=true does not seem to concern dependencies

2021-09-21 Thread Francois Thirioux
Public bug reported:

0) refresh-app-awareness=true is set
1) Firefox snap is started & runs
2) gnome 3.38 snap is manually updated
3) Firefox crashes

I thought the refresh option blocked updates of running snaps dependencies, but
nope.
Is that intended for manual updates?
The auto background updates of dependencies are blocked?

** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1943817] Re: Realtek 8852 wifi kernel module is missing

2021-09-16 Thread Francois Thirioux
** Description changed:

  Hi,

Just got a Thinkpad with Realtek 8852a wifi card. I installed Impish daily
(kernel 5.13).
  Not recognized.
- The driver is natively present in firmware folder, /rtw89/rtw8852a_fw.bin .
+ The firmware is natively present in firmware folder, /rtw89/rtw8852a_fw.bin .

But the kernel module is not loaded and in fact no module is loadable!
sudo modprobe rtw8[completion] does not return this wifi card's module.

  So I did run for:
  https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw89
and it does work but needs to be done for each kernel upgrade...

Note that Bluetooth was natively ok.

I tried 5.14 Ubuntu kernel from unstable ppa but same issue.
