[Bug 1102366] [NEW] libapache2-mod-php5: Segmentation fault on mediawiki POST requests after apache2 reload
Public bug reported: This is the affected following setup: * apache2-mpm-worker * libapache2-mod-php5 * mediawiki (all from quantal in my case). After doing /etc/init.d/apache2 reload, POST requests to mediawiki (e.g. page preview or save) fail with a lost connection. The log files only show a line like this: [Mon Jan 21 12:21:06 2013] [notice] child pid 16018 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Doing /etc/init.d/apache2 restart works around the problem. This seems to be the same as http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=691318 and possibly http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=694473 . I'm blaming PHP for now, in accordance with the upstream reporters. :-) Creating a backtrace from the apache child processes has proved quite challenging, so I'm stopping here. Public bug reported: This was diagnosed by my system. Not sure what to make of it. Sometimes the screen just remains black after mode changes etc., and I have to force a reboot. rc6 is disabled. [Bug 832745] Re: TypeError: glib.markup_escape_text() takes at most 1 argument (2 given)
@Robert: I don't see how this would be related to the PPA. This happened because update-manager is trying to report an upgrade error using the apport module, and subsequently went away when the error'ed out upgrade log was not the most recent any more. Now, we don't know what the original upgrade bug was, that triggered this buggy reporting routine - that might actually have been related to a PPA or whatever. As apport has a similar problem itself ATM, I'm putting a watch on #839464 - but we might have to dig through update-manager itself after this is solved (so not marking as dup just yet). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/832745 Title: TypeError: glib.markup_escape_text() takes at most 1 argument (2 given) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/832745/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks to Steve's hard work, multiarch is landing in natty at the moment (see FFe bug #733501 and https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/packageselection-foundations-n-multiarch-support ). [Bug 572018] Re: enigmail-locales weren't updated for 1.0.1 enigmail release
In Ubuntu, I don't see the locales in the Enigmail package although it might be in the source. Of course they are in the package - as i said, the localization works fine. To be exact, they are within /usr/lib/xul-ext/enigmail/chrome/enigmail.jar in the /locale/ folder. If you want to go through the work of re-adding the ability to have translation extensions to enigmail, and somehow marry that to launchpad's TBD universe translation facilities, that is of course your choice. And at that point, we still don't have a single additional translated string yet. I however think it should be way easier to do an automatic VCS import of enigmail, and set up LP to translate an enigmail branch automatically. Plus, this gives us a chance to cooperate with upstream, instead of rolling another ubuntu-only solution. Oh, and if we cannot remove a source package from lucid, we can always upload a followup version that only builds one or a few empty transitional packages. -- enigmail-locales weren't updated for 1.0.1 enigmail release https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572018 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 572018] Re: enigmail-locales weren't updated for 1.0.1 enigmail release
(This bug is a bit annoying, as it is preventing gnome-language-selector from doing it's automatic install thing.) According to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=448878 : since a few versions already, enigmail does include the localization files itself, making thus enigmail-locales not needed anymore, therefore, please remove enigmail-locales from the archive. And a quick inspection of the Ubuntu enigmail source package indeed reveals a number of (I guess) pretty complete translations. All languages that had separate XPIs shipped in enigmail-locales before have been included. Two quick tests show these localizations in action with just the enigmail package. Considering that the current enigmail-locale-XX packages just cannot work in lucid (not only the binary package dependencies are too strict, the dependencies of the included XPIs are also), were not translated via launchpad anyhow, and the existing translations have moved already, I propose the following way forward: 1. Use this bug to track the removal of enigmail-locale-XX (and src: enigmail-locales) from lucid and maverick. Not sure what the Ubuntu process is for this. 2. De-dup bug #588254 and update language-selector in lucid to no longer try installing enigmail-locale-XX. 3. If new user contributed translations ever appear, just update the enigmail package. Thoughts ? ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #448878 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=448878 -- enigmail-locales weren't updated for 1.0.1 enigmail release https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572018 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug used to be a dup of #572018. As I argued in https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/enigmail-locales/+bug/572018/comments/7 the enigmail-locale-XX packages are not necessary anymore and the whole concept has outlived its usefulness. Therefore I request that language-selector is updated (including an SRU to lucid) so that the unspecific (and confusing) error message Could not apply changes! Fix broken packages first. is avoided for this class of errors. ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- gnome-language-selector should no longer install enigmail-locale-XX packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/588254 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo'
Howard, I have longingly looked at libnss-ldapd for almost 4 years now, and absolutely agree it has a better architecture, cleaner code etc., and is a sensible long-term migration path. (The other possibly being sssd.) But multiple test migrations in my LDAP deployments always turned up some show-stopper problem or another. The last of these happend 3-4 months ago with ubuntu workstations, running an up-to-date karmic client-side (actually triggered by trying to work around exactly this bug). If the server team decides they want to try migrating for lucid, i'd be the first to offer help testing. But I sure don't see this happening before lucid+1. [Bug 411249] Re: libpam-krb5 default configuration does not allow login for LDAP users
in your setup, the shadow information is interpreted by pam_unix (not pam_ldap), but, assuming you have no local user, still comes from LDAP (via nss_ldap). Please check if your user has the auxiliary objectclass shadowAccount configured, and check the associated attributes (specifically shadowLastChange, shadowMax and shadowExpire). If I had to venture a guess I would say that changing the password via kerberos works correctly, but then libnss-ldap does not have enough permissions to update shadowLastChange, which fails silently, but causes pam_unix to prompt for another password update. Depending on your exact Kerberos configuration, if your kerberos passwords are stored in the LDAP server anyhow, you might want to consider pam_ldap for password updates. If you do, make sure TLS or SSL works correctly between the user-facing hosts and the LDAP server. -- libpam-krb5 default configuration does not allow login for LDAP users https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 238500] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 and firefox nss, nspr lib name changed
As you noted, upstream (Mozilla) doesn't version its SONAMEs at all by default, which is in itself a bad practise(TM). Debian and Ubuntu add symbol versioning (not to be confused with soname versioning) to pretty much all packaged libraries, and might possibly change other things that affect the library ABI, so to differentiate this library, a version string (e.g. .0d) is added to the soname. Someone really ought to drag Mozilla Corp.'s butts screaming and wailing into the 21st century, esp. regarding library shipping. Until that day, please _never_ assume you can just down pick a mozilla library/binary compiled on one system and drop it into a different system with its own version of mozilla libraries¹. Always compile the target library from source. Thank you. ¹ This is generally referred to as cross-distribution ABI compatibility, and the above mentioned soname- and symbol versioning go a long way to provide this. ** Changed in: libnss-db (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Ubuntu 8.04 and firefox nss, nspr lib name changed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238500 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 218899] Re: upgrade to hardy: user openldap is not added to group sasl
I can confirm this. While this setup doesn't seem too common, it's certainly a valid and supported one. This needs to be adressed on the slapd side, so reassigning this. The suggested fix (adduser openldap sasl) is quite simple, won't cause any regressions, but does give the slapd process some more priviledges. However, giving daemons access to /etc/sasldb2 is what the sasl group is _for_, after all. An alternative might be to force use of saslauthd, provide an configuration upgrade path, test thoroughly, and document that direct access to sasldb2 is no longer supported, I'd really recommend the former, though. :) ** Changed in: openldap2.3 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: cyrus-sasl2 = openldap2.3 Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- upgrade to hardy: user openldap is not added to group sasl https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218899 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap2.3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
