Just to add that i use 12.04 with evolution on my workstation and
everytime i reboot the evolution-data-server asks for the google
calendar password. So will evolution-data-server on 12.04 be fixed also?

[Bug 827669] Re: [138a:0018] Validity Sensors fingerprint reader not recognized

2014-09-07 Thread Ruben Rocha
Hi guys

On 12.04 it is a bit tricky for the driver to install ok because the one
on the fprint repo replaces the one of the deb package.

Try this:

sudo apt-get remove libfprint0
install the deb again
sudo apt-get install fprintd libpam-fprintd

I think that you need to install the deb package first and then install
the other files from the fprint repo. Reboot and try to install the deb
package again.

[Bug 1029289] Re: Need to authorize my google account each time I boot the computer

2014-09-06 Thread Ruben Rocha
The upstream developers have fixed it

Shouldnt the LTS version be fixed first and get almost all the attention
from developers? Also 12.04.5 has a major flaw if you try to install
virtualbox... the kernel module isnt yet available. Another LTS fail.

Everything is going the wrong way with ubuntu...

[Bug 1287211] [NEW] Gwibber does not refresh Facebook feed

2014-03-03 Thread Ruben Rocha

[Bug 1287217] [NEW] Gwibber does not complete new facebook account authorization

2014-03-03 Thread Ruben Rocha
Public bug reported:

When adding a new facebook account gwibber does not complete
authorization on facebook page. It displays APP NOT SETUP.

I found a solution for this problem. Just use the Ubuntu facebook app
key instead of gwibber app key that is not setup.

Edit the file
/usr/share/gwibber/plugins/facebook/gtk/facebook/__init__.py

On line 101 replace FB_APP_KEY with 302061903208115

Save the file and then restart the add facebook account process. It will
add your facebook account without errors.

[Bug 827669] Re: [138a:0018] Validity Sensors fingerprint reader not recognized

2014-02-23 Thread Ruben Rocha
After some testing with the fingerprint reader integration of ubuntu,
there are some minor problems with the fingerprint use.

- The fingerprint reading is way too accurate. 1 out of 3 the fingerprint reads
correctly. Maybe this is good on security standards.
- The passwords keyring does not unlock if you log in with fingerprint. A popup
will show to unlock the stored passwords keyring after you login. You need to
log in back with your password (without fingerprint) and set a blank password
on your keyring.
-Everytime you do anything that needs your root password it will ask you for
your fingerprint (even in the terminal). If you do not want to swipe your
fingerprint you need to wait some seconds to timeout and then input your
password.

I think that the fingerprint integration in ubuntu has not matured to a
level of reliability like in windows, but is nice to have your hardware
working 100% and everything can be used.

2014-02-22 Thread Ruben Rocha
Ok guys

I have built a deb package for 64 bit systems. After you download the
package i attached you just need to sudo dpkg -i and it will install the
driver.

If you want the integrated ubuntu fingerprint features for login and
sudo, apt-get install fprintd libpam-fprintd. Then go to users and you
will see the fingerprint login button option. Enroll your fingerprint
and voila!

The only annoiance is that on the longin screen when it askes for your
fingerprint the process isnt like windows. You swipe your finger and if
the fingerprint is recognised it will display a login button you have to
click. If the fingerprint isnt recognised it will time out and ask for
you user password.

I forgot to specify this deb package was built on ubuntu 13.10 64bit. It
was the first time i built a deb package so i dont know how this works.
Maybe a ppa with the package for different ubuntu versions?

I got the source driver from the link mentioned above and then
./configure, make, and then made the package with checkinstall.

Maybe someone more experienced can make a ppa for this package/driver.

[Bug 1241857] [NEW] installing samba from sharing options stops responding

Ok so i will describe the steps utils the bug appears.

you try to install linux-headers-generic, it tries to downgrade the

2013-02-16 Thread Ruben Rocha
Installed 12.04.2 yesterday. This is the only release that i want to run
on my laptop because of hardware support. It is more stable and faster
than 12.10 but how can they release it with this type of bugs???

Tried to install via terminal with sudo apt-get install virtualbox and
it fails to build the module. Also if i try to install linux-headers-
generic it tries to revert back to 3.2 kernel headers.

What is going on people? This is an LTS version!

[Bug 1088775] Re: gwibber does not refresh Facebook feeds

2012-12-14 Thread Ruben Rocha
This problem is affecting all versions of ubuntu with gwibber. The
problem with adding the facebook account also is related to the facebook
api allocation limits and there was no need to fix that issue. When the
facebook api allocation is fixed for the gwibber and ubuntu app on
facebook, all the issues are fixed.

Its a very annoying problem since its happening on an application
shipped by default with the OS.

[Bug 1084325] Re: Gwibber's Facebook receive operation fails

2012-12-13 Thread Ruben Rocha
After some searching the problem is related to the facebook api and how
gwibber works with facebook. I think the Ubuntu facebook app limit has
been reached. Same thing happened and is happening in previous versions
of ubuntu with gwibber because the Gwibber facebook app limit has been
reached.

The solution is to create a new app token on facebook, change the code
on gwibber facebook service and it will work for some time until the
limit is reached again.

[Bug 1058672] Re: Can't add my Facebook account

2012-12-08 Thread Ruben Rocha
The problem we have with the facebok accounts is that on 12.10 gwibber
connects to the new Ubuntu app on facebook to stream content. On
previous versions (12.04, 10.04...) gwibber connects to the Gwibber
app on facebook wich doesnt exist anymore.

Is there any way to change the code so that gwibber on 12.04 connects to
the new Ubuntu app on facebook? This will solve the problem.

[Bug 1058672] Re: Can't add my Facebook account

2012-10-25 Thread Ruben Rocha
The problem lies on the facebook app. This app was removed on facebook
and because gwibber need this facebook app to do sign in and update
people status, it doesnt work.

In ubuntu 12.10 it works because gwibber or gnome uses other facebook
app to do the job.

The fix is changing the gwibber code to use the new facebook app as it
happens on ubuntu 12.10.

If there is a fix i hope it will be across the board for all gwibber
users, including me on lucid 10.04.

Yes, i removed the 3.2.0-24 kernel that was installed on software
updates and booted the shipped 12.04 3.2.0-23 kernel and the hotkeys
were back ok.

[Bug 989859] Re: 3.2.0-24 kernel on 12.04 doesnt detect eeepc hotkeys

2012-04-27 Thread Ruben Rocha
In the last hour i tried to recreate again this bug.

Fresh installed 12.04 with shipped kernel 3.2.0-23, installed the
broadcom sta wireless driver and tested the hotkeys. Were all ok with
the on-screen events working and the super hybrid key working as well.

Next i ran update manager and it installed the new 3.2.0-24 kernel.
Rebooted as indicated in update manager and when the system booted up
the hotkeys became messed up. Only on-screen events for brightness, no
sound control and no super hybrid engine key.

Curious thing was instead i made another reboot, i completely shut down
the computer and then powered on. After booting hotkeys were ok with new
kernel. It seems that after the installation of the 3.2.0-24 kernel the
system needs compete shutdown and not just a reboot.

System is fully working untill now and i will test it further in the
next hour or so. Then i will post the results including with jupiter
applet installed.

[Bug 989859] Re: 3.2.0-24 kernel on 12.04 doesnt detect eeepc hotkeys

2012-04-27 Thread Ruben Rocha
I can confirm that the eeepc hotkeys are working flawlessly with new
updated kernel 3.2.0-24 provided by update manager but indeed there is
need to do a complete system shutdown after the update process to bring
back the hotkeys working.

Jupiter applet is working ok and i made a couple of reboots and
shutdowns and the hotkeys are working in order.

But there is indeed a bug somewhere because a shutdown is needed for the
hotkeys to work and not just the reboot process suggested by the update
manager.

I overcome this problem in 12.04 Beta 2 installing mesa-utils package.
After installing it the graphics are identified correctly.
