I googled it.
There is no support for VIA graphics card [I have inbuilt].

Processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+ [64 bit]
VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA
Adapter
PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8237 PCI bridge [K8T800/K8T890 South]
Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97
Audio Controller

I have tried fresh installation of 8.10 on my system.. The GUI installation
will not start. Text mode installation succeeded but I cant view the GUI
interface.

Re: [ubuntu-in] Ubuntu on external device

2009-01-19 Thread Vinayak Mutalikdesai
If you are using Live CD then you can save your documents in a USB
drive. The only thing is you cant save the settings that you have made.

If you use Virtual Machine or any other installed OS [USB] are H/W
dependent. Using any pre installed OS Disk [USB] or VM is not a good choice
if you want to run the same OS in Different H/W.

[ubuntu-in] Problem with Ubuntu 8.10

2008-12-22 Thread Vinayak Mutalikdesai
Hello all,

I am facing one issue with Ubuntu 8.10.

Previously I was using Ubuntu 8.04 which used to work fine with my computer
configuration. But when I tried to install 8.10 the installation window
stops responding after some time. So I searched in net and found that Ubuntu
8.10 doesn't supports Display driver for VIA chip-set [
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+question/53977]. Now I
upgraded 8.04 to 8.10 through Internet and I even replaced xorg.conf of 8.04
with the new xorg.conf but still I am unable to boot 8.10
