2011-02-18 Thread batosai
Thanks for your answer. It's good to know that someone is looking into it :-)
Although I won't be able to test any patches for a few days (maybe weeks) as
the laptop finally died for good. I believe the motherboard fried.
But as soon as Dell has it fixed up, I'll be happy to help.

[Bug 278982] Re: Unable to block ARP broadcasts of secondary addresses in order to use IPVS

2008-10-09 Thread batosai
I've found a workaround.
The problem happens when configuration is set respectively in /etc/sysctl.conf
and /etc/network/interface.
For some reason, it seems that the virtual interface is brought up *before* the
sysctl values are set. Which makes them ignored.

If you manually bring up the virtual interface after the boot process,
it works fine.

[Bug 278982] [NEW] Unable to block ARP broadcasts of secondary addresses in order to use IPVS

2008-10-06 Thread batosai
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-server

I have an IPVS load balancer configured for direct routing which works fine.
In order for WebServers to handle requests, they need to have the virtual IP
(frontal) configured as a secondary interface of lo.

This is set with 'ifconfig lo:0 $VIP netmask 255.255.255.255 up'.
To avoid ARP problem, IPVS documentation says I should block ARP announces with
the following commands lines in /etc/sysctl.conf :
net.ipv4.conf.all.arp_ignore=1
net.ipv4.conf.eth0.arp_ignore=1
net.ipv4.conf.all.arp_announce=2
net.ipv4.conf.eth0.arp_announce=2

After a reboot, I checked that above values were correctly set in /proc/ and
they were.
As soon as I bring up secondary address on lo, the load balancer receives a lot
(one per request) of SYN_RECV from the switch, meaning the webservers are
announcing themselves despites the above configuration.

Load balancer and webservers are Ubuntu 8.04.1 Server.

[Bug 268517] [NEW] Installer stuck when trying to manualy install on dm-crypt partitions

2008-09-10 Thread batosai
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: partman-crypto

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1 alternate CD. Installation on a blank new hard-drive :
1- Created a new partition table
2- Created 3 partitions :
sda1, 200MB, ext3, /boot
sda2, 2GB, crypt (random key) will be used as swap
sda3, 144GB, crypt (passphrase) will be used as /
3- Choosed Configure encrypted volumes

The installer formatted sda1, generated a key for sda2 and didn't ask a
passphrase for sda3. It tried to come back to the partitionner and gets
stuck at 47% on Starting up the partitionner.

I've tried several different partition layout with the same result. The
only things that works is to let the assistant do a Full disc
encryption with LVM.

Maybe I am missing something. If so, could you point me to a good HowTo
on install-time crypto with Ubuntu ? I've been unable to find it :(

[Bug 231472] Re: Disabled buttons and an inactive address bar

2008-06-10 Thread batosai
This problem happened to 3 of my users since I migrated to Hardy (5 weeks ago).
Twice for one of them.
Each time, I had to backup the bookmarks.html, delete the profile, create a new
one and import the bookmarks.
Users lost their homepage and history.

I understand that FF team does not support corrupted profiles, but these
corruptions are not the users fault. They did nothing new from what they
used to do with Gutsy. And this never happened with FF2. Clearly, the
problem comes from FF3.
