Re: [Ubuntu-l10n-eng] [Bug 1034488] [NEW] Rename Aeroplane mode to Flight mode

2012-12-15 Thread J Fernyhough
Which devices use Flght mode ? All the Android devices I own or use
have Aeroplane mode, including the latest CM10.1 (JB4.2), for their
UK translation.

Is this actually a translation issue to be fixed or simply a change
to reduce the amount of vocabulary needing translation in other
devices?

Adolfo Jayme Barrientos (fitoschido) has assigned this bug to you for
 gnome-control-center in Ubuntu:

In network settings, the toggle to turn on/off radios when you are on a
plane is titled Aeroplane mode which is the British-English spelling (
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroplane_(disambiguation) ). The US-
 English would be Airplane mode.

Aeroplane mode feels overly traditional, and has been replaced largely
on devices with Flight mode, which is also more accurate as it is the
flying that is the problem, not just being on a plane (e.g. when the
plane is not moving you are allowed to use device radios).

My Samsung Galaxy S3 with the default Android 4.1.1 uses Flight mode
with default language set as English UK.

That said, its not something I've ever noticed or considered a bug until
it was mentioned on the list.
