[ubuntu-marketing] Upcoming Meeting and Wiki Update

2008-02-18 Thread Danny Piccirillo
I have reorganized and redesigned the team wiki at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam
Please explore the new pages i've created. There is a new & press page to
get media coverage through press releases that could also be distributed to
LoCo teams to release their own custom releases. There is a materials page
where we can post materials for teams and individuals to use and create
their own local-specific content from and a resources page to link to
information valuable to marketing Ubuntu.

I'm hoping this will bring the marketing team back to life!

After much discussion in the IRC channel, we've scheduled a meeting for
Wednesday, February 27th at 00:00 UTC.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/Meetings/Minutes/2008-02-27
Will someone be able to log the meeting?
We will discuss plans for a Hardy Release Campaign as well as a plan for
regular meetings. Please contribute to the agenda.

[ubuntu-marketing] Hardy alpha 5 release notes

2008-02-18 Thread Steve Langasek
Thursday is another alpha milestone for hardy, Hardy Alpha 5. Again the
release notes from the last milestone have been imported[1]. Does anyone
have some time in the next couple of days to help refresh the content again
for the upcoming alpha?

In particular, the screenshots may need some freshening for any UI changes
over the past month or two.

Thanks,

Re: [ubuntu-marketing] LoCo Map Proposal

2008-02-18 Thread Danny Piccirillo
Can someone use the Google Maps or Mapplets API to create one central map
for all teams? http://code.google.com/apis/maps/
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/mapplets/

Re: [ubuntu-marketing] LoCo Map Proposal

2008-02-18 Thread Danny Piccirillo
Yes, similar, but it would be a google map and it would show where approved
teams exist, where new teams exist, and where no teams exist.

[ubuntu-marketing] I forgot...

2008-02-18 Thread Rubén Hubuntu
Hello again...

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Rubén and I have participated actively in the community
since october 2005, first through the forums, later with the Norwegian
team (mainly assisting with InstallFests) and last year I started the
Ubuntu Ecuador LoCo Team. I have been using GNU/Linux since 1998 and
ubuntu since march 2005 (Hoary beta or something along the lines with
Gnoppix).

I joined the marketing team in 2006 and have not really been that loud
in my participation here, but rather working with CD, stickers and
general Ubuntu distribution in the cold.

As part of the Spanish documentation team my aim is to get the UWN
(Called NSU in Spanish: http://doc.ubuntu-es.org/NSU ) up and running
so that it can be an instrument for all the Spanish speaking LoCo
teams (we are almost 20) in order to inform and get traction within
their local communities on what Ubuntu is and its development from
week to week, so that people see what's happening and get involved.

I have already got lots of help from people here in the team, and I'm
looking forward to hopefully be a resource for some of you too.

Best regards,

Rubén - Hubuntu

[ubuntu-marketing] Interview in the UWN & Spanish link template update

2008-02-18 Thread Rubén Hubuntu
Hello people!

I noticed that the last issues of the UWN do not have an interview
with some member of the community even though there has been such
interviews (i.e @ http://behindmotu.wordpress.com/) which are lots of
fun and give a closer look at the people working within the project.
Is there any particular reason for the interviews not coming along
with the UWN?

Another thing I want to voice is a template change: The Spanish
translation team (http://doc.ubuntu-es.org) have now a fixed URL for
the UWN Spanish translation which should be aupdated in the UWN
template: http://doc.ubuntu-es.org/NSU/Edicion_Actual

Thanks in advance!

best regards,

Rubén - Hubuntu
