The goal was not to create a "French Edition" but to flood the UWN with details of local events like install parties. We wanted to include details like place, how to go, hours, a link to register, etc (but a link on a wiki page might be nice). If you think this have a place in UWN (we do not have so much parties per year after all ;-)), it's fine for us and we make everybody happy :-). First thanks for your great work on full cicle! I am on of the French translators of the Ubuntu Weekly News, and we plan to translate full cicle magazine. Could you please make the scribus document available with needed files to produce a French version of the magazine? Re: [ubuntu-marketing] UWN 30
Hi all, Martin, you sent the mail I wanted to send :-). I agree, let's move now ! By publishing UWN #31 on sunday you mean 30 no ? Can we publish #30 as it is ? What are the showstoppers ? After a quick look on the wiki, it looks good. Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Replace the UWN with something a little more "Social"?

I see another aspect of the UWN. The French translation of the UWN is distributed as: - a mail on the French users mailing list - a topic on the French forum - an article on the French planet At least the two first media, permit people who does not follow the Ubuntu actuality (by not subscribing to any planet, any blog) to be informed on what's going on in Ubuntu. They are not involved in the Ubuntu community, but they are happy to know what's new. We have had a lot of good feed back for the posts on the French users mailing list. With the UWN we *push* informations to users, he does not have to pull it. > > So, in sum: the Fridge and the UWN have differing functions, both of > which are essential and shouldn't be lost. I can not agree more :-). I think there were good ideas for lightening the UWN process in this thread, I would not like this newsletter to be lost, for me, and for the users. I would be glad to help. Re: [ubuntu-marketing] UWN - gobby or wiki?

You do not need the "chat lock" ("I am editing the page"). I am one of the French translator, we tried wiki and gobby and we are happy gobby users for translation parties. If I understood well, nowadays, the articles are submited via the wiki and the final "packaging" is done on gobby. This looks like a good solution to me. The "gobby" phase was a bit long this time due to unavailablity from members of the team. We can not blame them for that. Submiting articles by posting on this maling list is another solution. Concerning starting the translation before letter is published, regarding past experiences, it is not a good idea : UWN may change until it is published, so we (French translators) now wait the final publication.
