Re: Checkbox

2012-03-05 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Thanks Brendan. And yes, for beta2 I hope to be using the new interface
so this issue doesn't occur (and we'll get to enjoy the work the
checkbox team has been doing on the UI ;-) ). Thanks for testing John!

I wanted to assist with the testing so I attempted to download and run
checkbox but got this message when I tried to install it:

Checkbox is getting a new user interface very soon, written in Qt. The
checkbox-app-testing application is a variant of Checkbox which still
uses the Gtk interface. I guess eventually it will also use the
checkbox-qt interface, but for now what you can do is enable the
'Universe' repository from within the live environment:

1.) Launch Software Center
2.) Edit > Software Sources
3.) Select Community maintained free and open source software (universe)
4.) Try again!

Thanks
 John

Checkbox

2012-03-01 Thread John KI4RO
I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1. I am currently
running it from CD.

I wanted to assist with the testing so I attempted to download and run
checkbox but got this message when I tried to install it:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
checkbox-app-testing : Depends: checkbox-gtk but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or how I should proceed.

Thanks

winezeug is the place for all "Wine-related but not Wine" code,
including most of our testing scripts: http://code.google.com/p/winezeug

Fixed and resubmitted, btw:

Let me know of further issues, I'm in a productive mood ;)

Thanks for your contribution. I have taken a moment to look at your merge
request and I like how you reused some scripts from upstream from yagmark.
Out of curiosity, where did this come from exactly?

Your branch will require a bit more polish to make it into Checkbox, so
I will follow up on your merge request in Launchpad with details. I think
it would be reasonable to expect your branch to eventually make it into
Maverick before feature freeze.

Wine-based checkbox tests ready for merging

2010-07-23 Thread Scott Ritchie
Hey all, I've finished the first step of my Wine-based checkbox tests,
and they're ready for merging and use.

One runs the Wine test suite, another runs the program 3dmark2000 in
Wine (which is currently causing X crashes on some Nvidia hardware in
Lucid).

If this approach seems promising I can extend it to include more general
Wine-based benchmarks, particularly more recent ones than 3dmark2000.

There's also the option of running them multiple times to get a more
reliable rating so they can be used as a daily performance metric.

Thanks,
Scott Ritchie
