Stefano, welcome! I'd recommend having a read over

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/Tester

There is more to do than just image testing and that page should help
set you up. If it's missing anything, just fire back a question and
we'll answer it and get it documented :-) In short, you can test
applications on the desktop and the phone as well as work on doing bug
triaging and hardware testing. If you have a phablet device, do check
out ubuntu touch. If not, the desktop is always looking for a few good
eyes to test things!

In addition, we have vUDS coming up next week, with lots of topics to
discuss. I hope you can join us! Check out the community track for lots
of quality related sessions.

Welcome to the team!

 * Packages are imported from Debian unstable, and for six months we
fix as much bugs as possible for every individual package*

 * We use the advance search feature in Launchpad

out which bugs are interesting for us to fix first.
 * We also have a project that works in papercuts

and, although is being grown at this time, it's the best place to

For all the ways you can help now that you've got an install have a look

I trust it will answer a few of your questions. Trusty is still early in

We <3 automated tests!

Wonderful to hear from you Richard. We would love help on any of the
automated test projects we have going on. There is some really cool work
going on. Do check out the test writer page:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/TestWriter

The official documentation for autopilot including tutorial is here:
http://unity.ubuntu.com/autopilot/. There's a quick tutorial for a qml
app too:
http://developer.ubuntu.com/resources/tutorials/quality/how-to-write-autopilot-tests/.
Finally, there's a video as well of writing tests for a couple of qml
apps -- it's quite long, but covers everything from checking out the
code to submitting the merge :-): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD_e_xqlBbg

Mostly, I would encourage you to pick a test or project to contribute to
and dive in! Ask questions and we'll help. Getting your first merge
proposal in is a wonderful feeling, and we're happy to help you do so.
Feel free to show up on IRC at get realtime help as well. We're in

Wonderful to have you Fábio! As you can see with the messages on the
list, we've just recently taken some time to define roles within the
team to help you get started. I'd recommend reading over the tester role
page.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/Tester

And getting a development machine setup.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/DevelopmentInstall

Then choose so activities and go for it!

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Roles/Tester#Activities

We're here to help, so don't be afraid to reach out with questions.

Thanks for helping make ubuntu better!

Hello Everyone,

I have been using Linux for ages and recently started using

experience consisting of writing/testing macros in VBA and small

learn a new language but my contributions will be mainly cadence
testing. I work in Quality Assurance but in the food business

forward to helping make Ubuntu better.

2013-03-15 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hi Mario,

it is always good welcome some one new :)

Please have a read of

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam

https://qa.ubuntu.com/getting-involved/

Please do ask any questions either on this mailing list, or in the IRC
Channel. There are no 'stupid' questions, just those for which we have not
made it easy to find the answer on our wiki area. The various areas we are
involved in are at

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Activities

Happy testing!

Regards,

Phill.

Re: New member

2013-03-15 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Hello Matthais, glad to have you aboard! Do have a look at these pages
as a bit of background on the team, what we do, etc. In a nutshell, we
like writing and running tests for ubuntu :-)

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam
https://qa.ubuntu.com/getting-involved/

This past week was a cadence week
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Cadence) and we primarily tested images
or isos of ubuntu and flavors to help support the beta1 images for
raring. Next week we'll be hosting a hackfest and some unity testing.
Pay attention to the emails on the list; they will keep you informed as
to what testing events are happening.

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-quality/2013-March/003349.html

Please feel free to join us in these events. If you don't yet have an
installation (vm or otherwise) of ubuntu raring, that's an excellent
place to start.

Feel free to message the list or drop by on IRC anytime, we're all happy
to help with any specific questions you may have.

http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ubuntu-quality

Looking forward to seeing and hearing more from you. Again, welcome!

Nicholas
