[Bug 1494141] Re: HAProxy 1.5 init script does not terminate processes
Oh, I didn't realize that my previous backport upload was already accepted. This still needs a patch. I think we should just apply http://launchpadlibrarian.net/213125772/haproxy_1.4.24-2ubuntu0.1_1.4.24-2ubuntu0.2.diff.gz to backports, could you please test this? [Blueprint servercloud-p-php54] PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04
Blueprint changed by Micah Gersten: Whiteboard changed: Status: This has been a hard, back and forth process, and I am not entirely happy with the result, but I don't feel there was anything more we could do. With Suhosin unavailable for 5.4.0, we have decided to ship 5.3.10 with the full protections of Suhosin and its known working state rather than 5.4.0 without Suhosin. With beta2 all but released (undergoing final testing) with 5.3.10, there isn't much more we can do. Thanks to everyone who put their time and input into this. -Clint There is a PPA with up-to-date version of PHP 5.4.0 for lucid - oneiric: https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/php5 and people are already using it. (I already had some user base). + Work items: + [ubuntu-server] In january, assess situation based on Debian status and decide 5.4 or 5.3 then: DONE + [clint-fewbar] maintain a merged 5.4 in a PPA ( ppa:clint-fewbar/php5 ) : DONE + [clint-fewbar] setup rebuilds for extensions that build-dep on php5-dev: POSTPONED + [ondrej] setup backport for lucid to allow wider PHP 5.4 testing before the upgrade: DONE + Question: Does this require discussion or just rubber stamping? -- Daviey Answer: It is not entirely clear whether 5.4.0 will be sufficiently similar to 5.3.x to include in this release. The more conservative approach is just to ship 5.3.9 or 5.3.10 and leave 5.4.0 for 12.10, but the PHP community is interested in weighing in on the issue and I'd also like to hear the security team's take on the matter. * provide packages for both precise and lucid in the ppa (or lucid-backports) so people can test before upgrade * provide rebuilt extensions against the new ABI Question: With both PHP 5.4.0 final and Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 released today, is it correct to assume that the chances of PHP 5.4 being shipped with Ubuntu 12.04 are basically non existant? -Clemens -- PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04 https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-php54 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

All but four did fine, but the failure of one in its unit tests make me think that at least part of the packages that did build may not work correctly. As for the packages that did fail: * honeyd -- inactive upstream (ironically he's the author of libevent). I have attempted porting it to libevent2, and I've done it but I can't really test it as I have no idea how to use it so I can't tell if the port was successful. I didn't have luck contacting upstream author (but will try again) * ladvd -- this is the one with failing tests (or rather a single test). We can attempt fixing it, as it shouldn't be hard. * python-event -- this one has inactive upstream, no packages depend on it, we already have a python-gevent which is more popular and working * lua-event -- this one is tricky. lua-event that we ship is a fork of lua-event that has been made with single package in mind (prosody). Apparently all changes from this fork has been already merged upstream, and the upstream lua-event builds fine with libevent2, but Debian maintainer is concerned with whether prosody works with it, so he asked for some time to do tests. I also did not hear from him since then. There is not much time before the feature freeze but, if I could get one more person who knows C interested in helping me with ladvd, and proofreading honeyd changes I've made, and if I got answer about lua- event, we could make this transition. My main concern is the fact that we'd have to check as many reverse dependencies for whether they actually work - and even that may not be enough, someone would have to subscribe to all those packages and investigate problems (probably with the help of upstream) for the possibility that their cause is the new libevent. This is totally off-topic for Ubuntu Bug Control, I've CC'd ubuntu-motu in the hope someone will pick this up. I've CC'd the server list in the hope that someone on there will notice the desire for this transition and either give the go ahead or say it's not happening until Natty + 1. [Bug 505301] Re: openssh server should warn that .ssh/authorized_keys is not accessible (causing ssh pubkey authentication to fail silently)
On second thought, this isn't the correct upstream as the reported here is asking for /var/log/auth.log logging and according to upstream that should already be done. The upstream bug was for client notification of the issue which isn't really possible as described upstream. ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: openssh Importance: Unknown = Undecided ** Changed in: openssh Status: Unknown = New ** Changed in: openssh Remote watch: OpenSSH Portable Bugzilla #1554 = None -- openssh server should warn that .ssh/authorized_keys is not accessible (causing ssh pubkey authentication to fail silently) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 427190] Re: php pages on localhost try to download instead of render in firefox most of the time
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in php5. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. The browser will ask to download the file if it receives no output from the apache server which in turn gets the output from the php script. Please verify that you are returning data from the PHP script. ** Package changed: ubuntu = php5 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- php pages on localhost try to download instead of render in firefox most of the time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427190 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
