[Bug 449395] Re: kvm freezes at graphical boot splash
The standard cirrus driver works fine - the problem only occurs with vesa. The reason for using vesa is that I can get my native resolution (1680x1050) while cirrus is restricted to 1280x1024. [Bug 438565] Re: Eucalyptus Public IPs should be submitted in CIDR notation
Eucalyptus apparently already has some crude support for this in net/vnetwork.c So you *can* specify CIDR-style notation, like 192.168.0.128/25. However if you specify a CIDR-style network that's not aligned to the first address, then it leads to a somewhat incorrect result: so this leads to a correct result: 192.168.0.128/25 = 192.168.0.128 - 192.168.0.255 - eucalyptus assigns 192.168.0.129 - 192.168.0.254 192.168.0.228/30 = 192.168.0.228 - 192.168.0.231 - eucalyptus assigns 192.168.0.229 - 192.168.0.230 but this doesn't: 192.168.0.230/30 = 192.168.0.228 - 192.168.0.231 - eucalyptus assigns 192.168.0.231 - 192.168.0.232 192.168.0.130/25 = 192.168.0.128 - 192.168.0.255 - eucalyptus assigns 192.168.0.130 - 192.168.1.0 though you could argue that those are incorrect. -- Eucalyptus Public IPs should be submitted in CIDR notation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438565 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi, ok, i have done, what you wanted in comment #27: 1) The NAS is a FANTEC LD-H35NSU2 see: http://www.fan- tec.com/html/en/2/artId/__2200/gid/__19909019903590/article.html There is also an user manual (PDF datasheet) on this side, where you can see, what small changes in the samba configuration of this NAS are possible. Of course the latest firmware of this NAS is installed. But it is impossible to get the CIFS implementation of the NAS or change some other settings. 2) The tcpdump output is attached. I also put the given commands in another file. And i also added the output, which i wanted to get. There is no problem to get this f.e. from jaunty (see comment #1). And this is really interesting: although i can't interpret the tcp output, i see great parts of the invisible directory listing. I can also confirm this bug and notice the following behaviour: I mounted a Iomega NAS over a wireless network via cifs with the following line in /etc/fstab: //192.168.1.20/User /home/user/NAS cifs iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,noperm,credentials=/home/user/.smbcredentials,uid=1000 0 0 I can browse to a directory I know with cd, but ls returns no output. However, when I copy a file to my computer, it works fine, but if I copy another file it just creates a new file with the contents of the first file that was copied. [Bug 440757] Re: ec2-images have ubuntu.canonical.com in /etc/hosts
I really don't feel like fixing this correctly in vmbuilder at the moment. Doing so I think would be to either: a.) add a '--no-local-host-entry' like field b.) allow '--host' to be 'null' or 'unset' special case. On that, the 127.0.1.1 entry would not be written. Neither of those are trivial. The reason for this is that the values populated into /etc/hosts come from the '--hostname' and '--domain' arguments. --hostname (vm.hostname) is used: $ grep vm.hostname -r * -l VMBuilder/plugins/libvirt/__init__.py VMBuilder/plugins/ubuntu/dapper.py VMBuilder/plugins/virtualbox/vm.py VMBuilder/plugins/vmware/vm.py So, I'm planning on removing the 127.0.1.1 entry in a '--execscript' script that will be pasted from build-ec2-image ** Changed in: vm-builder (Ubuntu Karmic) Status: Triaged = In Progress -- ec2-images have ubuntu.canonical.com in /etc/hosts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vm-builder in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Yes, I am still having the same problem. I just confirmed it, running fully updated 8.04.3 on both NFS client and server. On the remote NFS server, syslog reports that it can't stat exported dir and then prints the requested remote path ending at (before) the space. There is no way to use autofs to mount a remote directory containing a space through any combination of quoting or escaping. Using command-line mount command works fine when the remote path is quoted. Autofs calls the mount command for the actual mounting operation, so the problem is in autofs's preparation of the remote path argument to mount. Cause: in autofs source file mount_nfs.c, in function get_best_mount(), remote path is copied until space or end of string. If the remote path contains a space, the string is terminated before the space. This shortened string is then passed to the mount program as the remote path to be mounted on the local mount point. To duplicate: 1) Export a file system on the remote system, and make a directory underneath the top level of the exported file system that contains a space. Example: remote% cat /etc/exports /export remote% mkdir /export/data/path with space 2) On the local system, set up an automount map that maps to the remote file system, and start autofs. I resolved this by upgrading to autofs5, which seems to respect the + in the /etc/passwd and other NIS files -- Shane Dixon Linux Engineer Atmel Corporation -Original Message- From: boun...@canonical.com [mailto:boun...@canonical.com] On Behalf Of Chuck Short Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2009 11:58 AM To: Dixon, Shane Subject: [Bug 297378] Re: +-included entries in auto.home Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions: 1. Is this reproducible? 2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as detailed as possible. This will help us to find and resolve the problem. ** Changed in: autofs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: autofs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- +-included entries in auto.home https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297378 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in autofs package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: autofs I have the following configuration that works on a CentOS 4 machine, but not in Ubuntu. Inside the file /etc/auto.master: /home file:/etc/auto.home --ghost Inside the file /etc/auto.home: localuser -rw,soft,intr :/home.local: +auto.company_home The auto.company_home share in NIS: snip localhost -rw,soft,intr server:/home.local: snip The purpose is to have the localuser's home folder get overridden on just ONE machine and work with the defaults on all the other machines. This configuration works in CentOS: CentOS automount version 4.1.3-234 Ubuntu automount version 4.1.4 The configurations are identical. I've read that + entries work in the auto.master, but do they not work in other files? The result of the above configuration will show the local /etc/auto.home entries, but all the NIS auto.company_home entries are absent. -- +-included entries in auto.home https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297378 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to autofs in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 410379] Re: Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging when used with Sun's JVM
For what it's worth, you can apt-get install jsvc and then use a simple init script to run apache.org tomcat as tomcat user not root. We have been doing this for many years to run tomcat and other custom java apps as servers. A simple example jsvc init script is here: http://staff.washington.edu/joshuadf/java/ Note that you will need to get tomcat security updates from apache.org yourself. -- Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging when used with Sun's JVM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410379 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
