Not a package bug.

file or directory The value of variable $myhostname is "pushpak", but
should have been a fully qualified domain name; perhaps uname(3) did not
provide such. You must explicitly assign a FQDN of this host to variable
$myhostname in /etc/amavis/conf.d/05-node_id, or fix what uname(3)
provides as a host's network name! (failed). invoke-rc.d: initscript

[Bug 804593] [NEW] Many "Safely remove" icons on virtualized XPs

2011-07-01 Thread Horacio
Public bug reported:

I've installed three XPs on an Ubuntu 11.04 server, to virtualize desktops on
top of Linux+KVM. There are running ok, with storage and network virtio
drivers. The problem is that I got many "Safely remove" icons for:
- PCI Intel 82371B
- PCI RAM
- VirtIO SCSI controller
- VirtIO Ethernet
- VGA

If the user unplug some of this devices, the virtual machine crashes!

I've found some references like, without luck...
- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=498774 (PRIVATE, couldn't look
for solutions there)
- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671544 (PRIVATE, couldn't look
for solutions there)
- https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.9 (Mark
certain devices as non-hotpluggable)

I've searched for a way to disable pci hot-unplugging in the docs of
libvirt, but couldn't found any way to disable that.

I'm using virsh 0.8.8 and qemu-kvm-0.14.0. I've searched Ubuntu's bugs,
and haven't found anything related to this problem...

[Bug 561750] Re: squid starts and stops immediately (after upgrade from karmic to lucid)

2011-07-01 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
the new maverick package 2.7.STABLE9-2ubuntu5.1 still has the problem that
squid is killed when the
resolvconf script is called, exactly as described in comment #7 above.

The maverick packages still has 'reload squid' in /etc/resolvconf/update-
libc.d/squid. This kills squid, so that it is not running after the interface
comes up.
It should contain 'restart squid' which works fine.

-> it seems to me that restart and reload was mixed up in some of the
discussion following comment #7

-> sorry I was not careful enough when I tested the proposed-package, this is
very embarassing :-(

-> it seems the bug needs to be reopened

[Bug 804513] [NEW] bind9 uninstallable from repo in oneiric when upgrading from natty

2011-07-01 Thread Daniel Jönsson
Public bug reported:

Natty repos contain version 1:9.7.3.dfsg-1ubuntu2.1 of all bind9 libs
which are depended on by the ubuntu-standard package and thus normally
installed even without bind9.

If upgrading from a Natty installation without bind9, to oneiric and try
to install it, you get version errors because oneiric repos only have
version 1:9.7.3.dfsg-1ubuntu2

Thanks. What about when you do these:

echo "handling sysctl.conf"
cat /etc/sysctl.conf | sysctl -e -p -
for f in /etc/sysctl.d/*.conf; do
echo "Handling $f"
cat $f | sysctl -e -p -
done

(Sorry for the duplicate to bug 804105)

No, the arm error is a real bug (postinst should be removing the binfmt
named 'qemu-arm', not 'arm') but should cause no harm. I can't reproduce
the exit code of 1 or the failure to start procps.

Yours really is because procps is not starting correctly.

Can you show what happens when you just do

sudo start procps

?

[Blueprint server-o-ubuntu-orchestra-server] Ubuntu Orchestra Meta-Package

  Ubuntu Orchestra Server
A collection of the best free software services useful in hosting enterprise
data center infrastructure services, based on the Ubuntu Server

Provisioning Server ( Cobbler, PXE, tftp, ... )

Monitoring ( rsyslog, collectd, nagios? )

Power Management ( powernap, IPMI?, fence-agents, NUT )
   - PowerNap Server, overtime, should handle IPMI/UPS/etc. Up for discussion
in PowerNap session.
   - fence-agents
   - IPMI integrates full power-down, beyond WOL, CPU Idle, etc.
   - Network UPS Tools (NUT) already handles UPS and PDU natively, and
IPMI/ALOM/ILO through PowerMan

*Remote Web UI ( Landscape? )

  = Requests / Other items =
   * request from Spads in IRC for gpxe support in cobbler
   * Swapping out tftp for http allows you greater debugging and control in
your autoinstall behaviors.
   * Many problems reduced to "write a web app"
   * smoser thinks that cloud-init might need some changes that make it more
consumable here. Some of the upstart jobs that it does to make it run "really
early" might cause issues with networking being less reliable or predictable.
this is really just a warning / admission that there might be issues. i *do*
think that there needs to be one single thing that does initial first boot
installation.
    * It might be useful to allow at the cobbler (or provisioning level)
user-data that then would get to cloud-init.
    * somewhat obvious thought... would potentially be nice if there was an
ec2-like api cobbler/orchestra
   * cloud-init should be treated as the "configuration management bootloader",
i.e., the gateway to being managed by puppet/chef/ensemble/rightscale/etc
   * initial pxe boot image on the network should be a "collect data and report
it" image. Then, when a new system is plugged into the network it will boot
that image, and report back its mac and cpu/meminfo/disk...

  == Actions ==
  - pre-execution environment ( boot, collect data about system, report to
cobbler )
  - discovery step
  - hardware configuration

[Blueprint server-o-ubuntu-orchestra-server] Ubuntu Orchestra Meta-Package

2011-07-01 Thread Michael Casadevall
Blueprint changed by Michael Casadevall:

Whiteboard changed:
  Work Items:
- ubuntu-orchestra-server MIR: TODO
+ ubuntu-orchestra-server MIR: DONE
  manpage: TODO
- wiki page: TODO
-
+ wiki page: INPROGRESS

  === SESSION NOTES ===
  Ubuntu Orchestra Server
A collection of the best free software services useful in hosting enterprise
data center infrastructure services, based on the Ubuntu Server

  https://launchpad.net/orchestra
  bzr lp:orchestra
  ppa:orchestra/ppa

Provisioning Server ( Cobbler, PXE, tftp, ... )

  Caching/Proxy/Mirroring ( squid-deb-proxy, debmirror )

Management ( puppet, ensemble?, chef?, etc. )

  Orchestration ( mcollective, ... )
  `

   * initial pxe boot image on the network should be a "collect data and report

that image, and report back its mac and cpu/meminfo/disk...

[Bug 790145] Re: kvm husb: ctrl buffer too small

2011-07-01 Thread Serge Hallyn
Where did you look at 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.10? And which particular
change were you looking for?

[Bug 787091] Re: Unable to use USB device in KVM quest

2011-07-01 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, Roy. I'm sorry, this shoudl have occurred to me much sooner. Just to
make absolutely sure, could you add the following to the bottom of your
/etc/libvirt/qemu.conf file:

cgroup_controllers = [ "cpu", "memory" ]

shut down your VM, restart libvirt-bin using

   sudo restart libvirt-bin

and see if your VM can now access the printer?

Also, could you attach the result of

   virsh dumpxml WindowsXP

? libvirt is supposed to automatically add entries to the devices
whitelist to allow access to the usb printer, so I'm hoping the xml file
will offer clues as to why it didn't.

[Bug 790145] Re: kvm husb: ctrl buffer too small

2011-07-01 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
It looks like the 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.10 does not have the fixes from
0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.7 included in it. Could you please re-roll these
changes to include the previous proposed fixes as well.

** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu Lucid)

[Bug 799660] Re: package libvirt-bin 0.7.5-5ubuntu27.13 failed to install/upgrade

2011-07-01 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, Daniele. I'm afraid I'm just not seeing what is happening.

Once it starts, does libvirtd keep running, or does it eventually die?

Have you made any customizations? Can you attach your files:

/etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf
/etc/init.d/libvirt-bin

?

[Bug 787091] Re: Unable to use USB device in KVM quest

2011-07-01 Thread Royston Carter
Serge,
Have more or less done as requested and attached results. Your line "cat
/cgroup/libvirt/qemu/WindowsXP" would not work as this is a directory so I
improvised a little.

Regards

Roy
