Thanks very much for the quick reply rderoko. Sounds like this was definitely a hardware failure then. Marking Invalid. ** Changed in: irqbalance (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- package irqbalance 0.56-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: failed to read on buffer copy for md5hash: Input/output error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to irqbalance in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 633811] Re: package irqbalance 0.56-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: failed to read on buffer copy for md5hash: Input/output error
Yes, I followed the upgrade instructions exactly. I was upgrading from a current, installed Lucid system, that was up to date with all known updates installed. For what it is worth: the upgrade failed completely. An error message said that my system had become "unstable'. This was quite correct because upon attempting to reboot I got a disk failure warning and my system was now not bootable. I had to replace the disk as it was totally unrecoverable. I think the problem was related more to the imminent disk failure and not to the upgrade. Thanks for your interest. Hi Rderoko, thanks so much for taking the time to file this report and help us make Ubuntu better!
