[Bug 292869] [NEW] audio cd not recognized nor detected in ubuntustudio 8.04

2008-11-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

i was also told that others running 8.10 had this problem. When i
insert an audio cd into ubuntustudio 8.04 it doesn't show up as an icon
on my desktop, nor does it show up under Places-..Audio Cd...(error..-
Could not open location 'cdda://scd0/'..There was an error launching the
default action command associated with this location.) Nor could i open
it with a music application such as Audacious. This is really
disappointing as i desperately need to have this capability on my
system.. i'm thinking about down grading to 7.10 until this issue can be
resolved.

I have been using Ubuntu Studio as my desktop. During the downloading phase I
received the following Error Message: An error occured while loading or saving
configiuartion for front end. Some of your configuration settings may not work
properly. Details: Failed to contact configuration sever; some possible causes
are that you need to enable TCP/IP networks foe ORBIT, or you have stale NFS

information.
Details: 1. failed to get connection to session. Failed to connect to socket
/tmp/dbus-gbQoP7Zgba. Connection refused.

During the installation phase and prior to the package manager error
another error message informed me it couldn't do whatever it needed to
to with the Ubuntu Studio Menu.

I expected to download and install 8.10 with no trouble, as I had done
with 8,04. I hoped that8.10 would then be able to recognise and mount
my USB connected external backup drive, something Gutsy was able to do
but not Heron.

Last night I downloaded the package and this morning I left it to
install. On checking at lunchtime I was horrified to find that my
previous configurations hed been removed before the installation gave up
the ghost.

Is there anything I can do to recover my previous set up and extremely
precious data?

Thanking you in anticipation but little hope.

parametric eq with shelves, and when you clic the activate button on the

Very anoying problem, because this collection of plugins are very
usefull for audio works, and it sounds very well (when it works, of
course)

Don't hesitate to ask me more info. It seems that the current debian

[Bug 246894] [NEW] [needs packaging] FFADO FreeBob - Firewire Mixer Audio Drivers

2008-08-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Andrew Hunter (rexbron):

The FFADO project aims to provide a generic, open-source solution for
the support of FireWire (ie. ieee1394, DV-audio) based audio devices for
the Linux platform. It is the successor of the FreeBoB project.

The code is beta, so it may be too soon to add it for most people. But
it is something to look out for.
