I think we should maybe get this in motion, and propose that we make a first meeting. I didn't even know they were supposed to. Interesting! I would personally say the first meeting be in Glasgow, in the very nice (and cheap) pub called the Counting House. It is located close to both main stations in the city. As for a date, maybe the 2nd of April? How would that be for you lot? Tuesdays are the best day of the week for me (Weds is my day off) especially if some drinking is to be involved. Is this an open-to-all meeting or Glasgow only? Martin I spoke to Chad Longstaff on IRC, he is fine for the monday. -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
[ubuntu-uk] NVidia
As a Newbie to the world of Ubuntu I'm a little confused about graphic cards. I have a nvidia geforce 7600gs on my system, but the open gl graphics seem jerky. this is on the various screen savers and the tux pinball game for example. Looking at the add remove programs there appear to be 2 nvidia downloads. Which should I use? I did try 1 but I crashed the system and had to re-install. I think I tried the later of them. thanks Martyn -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/

Then press alt+F2, type gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf then change nv to nvidia in the line that says Driver nv Save the file, restart and it should be working. You'll see an nvidia logo just before the login screen if the drivers are installed correctly.
