I'd suggest also giving Outport a try, you haven't got much to loose.

If all else fails, depending on which version of Outlook it is, you
could try running it under either Wine or CrossOver Office.

Just wanted to give a bit of feedback on Outport. I had a play with it
today (I'm currently transferring a company from a mixture of Outlook
2003 and Outlook Express to SME Server with Thunderbird clients via IMAP.

I found that Thunderbird would happily transfer mail and contacts from
Outlook without any problems but it wouldn't budge when trying to
convert Calender Task items to Thunderbird with the Lightning Add-On
 or Sunbird.

So after much messing around I tried Outpost. It worked straight away
and converted the Calender items into individual iCal files (not ideal
but it certainly saves re-entering two years worth of Calender items).
It also has the option to export to Evolution files too so hopefully it
would do what you need to transfer from Outlook to Evolution.

Hi Rob,
another method which has worked for me is to synchronise Outlook Calendar
with Gmail Calendar and Thunderbird Calendar i.e Outlook-GCal-Thunderbird.
There's a nice how to on
Lifehackerhttp://lifehacker.com/399407/how-to-sync-any-desktop-calendar-with-google-calendar.

Cheers

[ubuntu-uk] PCI Tv tuner cards

2008-11-24 Thread piskie
Hey people - a little bit of help or misdirection needed - :)

Looking for recommendations for a PCI tv tuner card which works without
TOO much trouble.

Mostly using Intrepid - sometimes Jaunty - but not worried about bugs
there for obvious reasons as yet.

Nvidia GeForce6200 card if it makes a difference.

Thanks

I personally recommend the Hauppage WinTV Nova-T 500

It's a great dual tuner card that works with little narfing about,
works fantastically in MythBuntu and there is a good guide on the Wiki
for it.

I'd also suggest the Hauppage cards, they're probably the best supported
cards out of the box.

You don't mention if you want an analogue tuner card or a Freeview card.
If you want an Analogue one then probably anything with a BT848 or
BT878 chipset would work (which covers most analogue PCI TV Tuner
cards). For Digital cards check out this site...

You'd be looking for DVB cards (DVB-T for Terestrial i.e. Freeview, and
DVB-S for Freesat).

Re: [ubuntu-uk] PCI Tv tuner cards

2008-11-24 Thread David King
After reading Linux Format magazine's review of TV cards earlier this
year, I bought the TechnoTrend TT-1500, which is supposed to work with
Linux, but so far I have not been able to get it to pick up anything at
all, in Mythbuntu. Although I have now, I think, messed up the Mythbuntu
installation on the PC and will have to reinstall it at some time. If I
ever get it working, then I might recommend it, otherwise go with the
other recommendations.
