I'm coming from Neath which is en-route from Swansea to Cardiff, I'll
try to find you on the train somewhere! In fact I reckon a few will be
on the very same train route. Let me know what time you can make it
nearer the time.

I don't like cities that much either but hey we're hardly going to host
it in a cave half way the valley or something :).

Yeah and it couldn't have been done without the assistance of the others
in IRC and the rest of Ubuntu Cymru :).

Chris.

Alright chap,

I shall be attempting to come along, just need to check the train times.
I'll be taking the choo choo from Swansea to Cardiff if anyone wants to
meet up on the train.

I must admit I don't like Cardiff that much (but I don't like Swansea
that much either) so I may just tootle along to Starbucks then catch a
train back, but it depends how I'm feeling that day :)

Cheers for organising something, it's good to see people stepping up to
the mark.

[ubuntu-uk] [Welsh] Confirmed Welsh Release Party

2009-04-12 Thread Christopher Swift
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I am emailing to notify those who do not know that the Welsh Team has
organised their Jaunty Release party on Saturday April 25th in the
capital, Cardiff. We have a poster designed by littletank, which can be
viewed on my website at http://ianto.ch/images/flyer.png however that is
just the starting venue.

After much discussion in the IRC meeting, it was decided that there will
be two venues, one after the other for reasons which I shall now
explain. Our first venue, listed on the poster is due to the fact that
some people are either too young or do not feel welcome in a drinking
environment and as such, Starbucks was a viable choice; we geeks are
renown for our coffee habits. Secondly, it has been suggested that the
posters will attract some who may not have previously come due to it
being in a nice and plain accessible shop such as Starbucks, I was not
personally sure how that works but I think that it will so please don't
email me back asking how ;-). After 7pm however, we will be moving onto
The Central Bar, Cardiff CF10 3BW for a more socially drinkable location
for those who are able and it is like that those who can't will then be
able to tag along and have a cola, juice or something similar. It is
possible to buy food in the bar if one chooses to get some from there.

All people are welcome and are invited to attend our release party in
the capital of Wales, especially those who live in or are close to Wales
itself. Also due to the fact that both the wiki and the team name are in
Welsh, the main language being used will be English, so please don't be
put off with the idea that people will be conversing to each other in
Welsh if you are an English speaker who may come over and may not then
understand what is actually happening. And at the same time, if there
are two Welsh speakers there, then by all means, choose your preferred
tongue especially if /*ti'n moin gallu siarad Cymraeg!*/ you want to be
able to speak Welsh!

I'd like to get a general headcount for the day, so if possible could
you email me back to this address either directly or through this
mailing list so that I can get a rough estimate and/or give you
directions for the (two) venue(s). My mobile number is however listed on
the poster too if directions are required, however I cannot make
outwards calls or texts momentarily.

With kind regards,
Christopher Swift.
