Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1206335] Re: Crashing of system, kernel panic
Very many thanks for pointing me in this direction. After checking the installed memory modules and the installation manual I did find errors. I had two X.P.M DIMMS / DDR3-1600 in the one channel. Only one supported per channel. Further two of the six DIMMS had voltage requirements of 1.8V when the recommended maximum voltage =< 1.65V I have removed the DIMMS that are not recommended and rearranged the four DIMMS according to recommendations. I will report back when tested ca one week. Thanks again David On Tue, Jul 30, 2013 at 12:51 PM, Daniel Letzeisen < 1206...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > Have you run memtest on your RAM? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1206384] [NEW] XFCE desktop has screen corruption, logs out
Public bug reported: I use xubuntu 12.04.2 lts 64 bit version. When this issue happens, I have a blinking cursor in 5 or 6 places on my desktop. I think what is happening is the tty screen(s), like tty1 are bleeding through to the desktop. If I do anything, for instance, like running chromium, the system logs out. If I log out or if the system logs me out (xfce4-session crashing perhaps), and then I log back in, all is well. 1) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release:12.04 2) The version of the package you are using (I have no idea, perhaps xfce4-session? just a guess though... also maybe fglrx?) 3) What you expected to happen: Continue to function like it should. 4) What happened instead: answered already, look above. 5) Ubuntu-bug told me to include a picture, I have done so. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1170418] Re: Unity Launcher and window borders missing upon login when using 3 monitors
Made an edit for 3 screen arrangement in catalyst control center and hit apply which solved the ability to display the 3 screens since the selection in the display settings of Ubuntu would not set 3 screens. Reverted to xorg driver and all borders now appear. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1206291] [NEW] Video Crashes on Resume from Sleep/Suspend
Public bug reported: Testing Kubuntu and Ubuntu 13.10 Alpha 1 and then Alpha 2 has given the same results, as soon as I try and wake up my PC I get a screen filled with speckly black and white rectangles instead of a usable desktop, then the mouse cursor will jitter worse and worse until it crashes fully, I am unable to even access bash after waking up my PC. I run an Intel 3000HD on chip (Intel i5) and a PCI-E GTX 470 nVidia card (ASUS Desktop Board), the same happens for me using the Live Desktop from USB or the installed OS (I've not tried the closed source drivers as I don't want to use them). This bug never used to occurred in Kubuntu/Ubuntu 13.04 Final, although I had to make a script disable my USB devices or the PC would wake up straight away and not stay asleep (which has been fixed in this new version) - One of the most important things is that my PC sleep and wake up quickly when I need it. I think it's a conflict of having the on chip GFX and the PCI-E enabled, but I can not disable the on chip GFX and I really should have to, it may not be this causing problems, but I do hope this is fixed by the final as I really want to be using Linux again. As Ubuntu is meant to be using MIR instead of xORG I reported this as Unknown, but I suspect it's a kernel issue and not related to the Display Manager at all. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 13.10 crash display sleep suspend wakeup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1206291 Title: Video Crashes on Resume from Sleep/Suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1206291/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1204261] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in sna_pixmap_set_dri()
The implication here is that sna_pixmap_move_to_gpu() reported success but left priv->gpu_bo invalid, which in turn means that we must have marked the pixmap as being all damaged on the GPU but left the bo unset. It has been a worry in the past, such that there are lots of asserts to enforce the relationship between GPU damage and the bo, if you can reproduce this recompiling the ddx with --enable-debug will be very useful. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1204261 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in sna_pixmap_set_dri() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1204261/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1198942] Re: Hybrid Graphics and general enablement for fglrx and nvidia in Precise for 12.04.3

I added + tests in the test suite to make sure that we simulate hybrid graphics + systems (using fake devices) and test the relevant code paths. + + In short, we don't provide graphics drivers on unsupported systems with + hybrid graphics, thus preventing users from breaking their systems. When + hybrid graphics is available and supported (i.e. there is a driver which + supports it and the Raring stack is installed) not only do we provide + the drivers, we also take care of installing either fglrx-pxpress or + nvidia-prime, which will take care of any required configuration so + that, on next boot, things will work with no user interaction. Quite an + improvement compared with a certain xserver failure in case of a + misconfigured or unsupported system. + + As for the drivers, they all work with kernels up to 3.10 and include the following features: + * NVIDIA's 319 series add support for hybrid graphics, in addition to being a LTS series. They also replace any experimental driver we uploaded. + * current users of nvidia-current and nvidia-current-updates will be migrated to nvidia-304 and nvidia-304-updates (same driver release, only different name). + * All (obsolete) experimental nvidia drivers will be migrated to nvidia-319-updates. + * fglrx-updates will be updated to the latest stable release. + * fglrx-experimental-13 will replace all experimental releases and add stable support for hybrid graphics. + * nvidia-persistenced is a daemon (only for the 319 series) which, by default, preserves the standard behaviour of the nvidia driver. It makes it easier for users to enable persistence mode to work around bugs in the driver (e.g. LP: #1202152) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1198942 Title: Hybrid Graphics and general enablement for fglrx and nvidia in Precise for 12.04.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-updates/+bug/1198942/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1201888] Re: Critical temperature 99 reached shutting down
You can enable power management for your AMD/ATI Radeon hardware by using one of the methods described at http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/#index3h2 The first two methods are only rudimentary but are available now. The 3rd (dpm) method is much better and is available (for AMD/ATI Radeon R600 and newer hardware) in the upstream 3.11 linux kernel. The third release candidate (3.11-rc3) of the 3.11 kernel is available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how to install and uninstall it are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds To use this power management for the AMD/ATI Radeon you will need to select it at boot by adding radeon.dpm=1 to your GRUB kernel boot options as described at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Troubleshooting#Editing_the_GRUB_2_Menu_During_Boot To use the new power management feature on R700 and newer hardware (other than APUs) also requires installation of the latest AMD graphics microcode (ucode) files to /lib/firmware/radeon These are available at http://people.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/radeon_ucode/ Get the version ending in "smc". R700 basically means Radeon HD 4000 series and newer. However note that according to Wikipedia and http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/#index5h2 the Mobility Radeon HD 4225/4250 is a RV620 chip, so anyone with one of those shouldn't need the updated firmware files. See the blog post at http://www.botchco.com/agd5f/?p=57 for further information. Unlike the older dynpm method, the new DPM method works with multiple monitors and there shouldn't be any flickering as the performance level changes are handled by dedicated hardware rather than the driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1201888 Title: Critical temperature 99 reached shutting down To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1201888/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1203273] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in has_offload_slaves()
There is no clear reason why that would explode; looks more or less like a corrupt screen->dirty_pixmap_list. Till Kamppeter, thank you for updating your BIOS. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc3 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed.
