[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1234839] Re: saucy Beta 2 3.11.0-11 vertical black bar near left edge
I did look at bug #123428 mine is not like that in that the vertical bar is always there. Opening tabs doesn't fix it. Launcher is hidden, when I mouse over the launcher appears where the black bar is, however when launcher hides again the desktop is not restored. Also, as in #5, sometimes there is a vertical sliver of the desktop at the extreme left then the vertical black bar then the desktop. Never saw this in Beta 1 or any previous daily build of 13.10. If the monitor says it's valid, then we'll have already added those modes during EDID block parse. If it doesn't, then we should believe it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1228570] Re: Login often fails
I am also logging into my Thinkpad Twist via SSH (with -X option to be able to use X apps) and indeed this influences whether I can log in. If I am able to log in directly on my laptop's screen, I am able to log in again and again as long as I do not log in via SSH. If I log in via SSH from another machine while I am logged in on the laptop's own screen and then log out on the laptop's screen I cannot log in again on the laptop's screen. To be able to log in again, I have to log out of the SSH session and log in again via SSH, after that I can log in again on the laptop's screen. My .Xauthority file is most probably the culprit. The laptop's screen is DISPLAY :0, the SSH session has DISPLAY :10 (see DISPLAY variable in terminal). The .Xauthority file has up to three lines. Most is unreadable binary data, all contain till-twist (the host name of the laptop) near the beginning, some binary bytes, a number, some more binary bytes, MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1, and more binary bytes. In a healthy (I can log in from the laptop's native screen) .XAuthority all lines have different numbers, usually 0, 10, 11 in arbitrary order, or there are only two lines, also with different numbers out of 0, 10, and 11. A broken (I cannot log in) .Xauthority contains two lines with the number 10 and one with 11. ** Also affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Critical ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-13.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1228570 Title: Login often fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1228570/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

However, now when I use the same sequence in Saucy Salamander (up-to- date) I get ć. Keyboard Layout: USA (international with dead keys) System Language: pt_BR.UTF-8 I know, looks like a simple deal, but this change of experience can be problematic for some users. ** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: bot-comment -- Wrong dead key on us-intl keyboard layout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1235105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877010] Re: Keyboard freezes at random
I confirm this. I disabled Repeat Keys or Bounce Keys which repeats a key if you hold it, so I don't get stuck on that. But sometimes my keyboard freezes while typing, it's really annoying. Suspending system and waking it up fixes the freeze. Saying that top bar / sidebar didn't work, sometimes it happens, too, I remember once my keyboard was frozen, I tried to suspend, but I couldn't use the top bar. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877010 Title: Keyboard freezes at random To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/877010/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1235293] [NEW] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0b160001 IPEHR: 0x13000001
Public bug reported: I finally was able to install a stock saucy kernel on my new macbook air. After waking it from suspend this morning, my external monitor turned on first, and then finally the builtin monitor lit up. The password prompt showed up on the builtin monitor, but it seemed super sluggish. I finally was able to enter my password, the desktop displayed properly ( note, again the desktop had been displayed on the external monitor the whole time I was trying to enter my password ). At this point, I realized I had no Wi-Fi connection, nor as a matter of fact did it appear Wi-Fi was even enabled ( no networks in the menu ). So I rebooted, and everything seemed OK again, except for the fact that a problem report dialog showed up and resulted in me entering this bug. Note, my system was fully up-to-date as of yesterday. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1235201] Re: saucy beta 2 could not apply the stored configuration for monitors
Tried again with /etc/X11/xorg.g/vga.conf. No luck. What I do to get a usable desktop is: #!/bin/bash xrandr --newmode 1366x768_60.00 85.25 1366 1440 1576 1784 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VGA1 1366x768_60.00 xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1366x768_60.00 Previously with ubuntu, did that once, works right away, then next boot got me 1366x768 sometimes. Sometimes in ubuntu development making a .xprofile with that would work sometimes not. Chris, with /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/vga.conf as you specified booted right up with no problem on configuration. No big window top to bottom full of lines complaining about could not apply stored configuration. Yay. cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep onitor [19.831] (**) | |--Monitor default monitor [19.831] (==) No monitor specified for screen Default Screen Section. Using a default monitor configuration. The wallpaper is not restored for that section. Timo, I reported bug#1232426 on Lubuntu. I set the display configuration to 1360x768, built in monito orr, save it, working O.K., reboot and get back to the default 1920x1080 (squint) built in monitor on. No big warning messages about could not apply. stored configuration like I get with 1235201.. So on every boot I have to set the configuration again. You people would know whether this is a manifestation of the same problem. Come to think of it, I could put this config.d/vga.conf on Lubuntu to see what happens. This bug 1235201 on Ubuntu/unity gets a huge window taking up 1/3 of the center of the screen top to bottom many many lines and says it could not apply the stored configuration for monitors. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1235516] [NEW] [gm45] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0a8da72e
Public bug reported: NetworkManager stopped being able to connect to Wi-Fi access points, so I attempted to restart it. There was no /etc/init.d/network-manager script (presumably removed during the upgrade to Saucy), so I ran: service networking restart This caused all GUI programs to be killed (several left crash logs, which I did not submit to Launchpad for obvious reasons), leaving me with just a wallpaper and a mouse pointer, still moveable. Attempting to switch to a VT displayed first a black screen with the classic X pointer, then finally a VT, but the system became unresponsive to any key.
