[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738526] Re: crash accessing font info with xfs in fontpath
According to the link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2183029 I commented out from /etc/X11/xorg.conf : #Section Files # FontPath unix/:7100 #EndSection to achieve a similar effect of uninstalling xfs This seems to be another successful workaround. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247534] [NEW] Problems about swapping mouse buttons
Public bug reported: I use the following script to swap right-click and middle-click buttons: # swap middle and right button MY_MOUSE_ID=$(xinput list | grep Mouse | sed -r 's/.*id=([0-9]+).*/\1/') xinput --set-button-map ${MY_MOUSE_ID} 1 3 2 It can work, but after a while (about 30min-1h), the buttons automatically swap back so I have to execute the commands again... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247624] [NEW] Laptop screen is turned off, needs shutdown to work again
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.10, release: 13.10 xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu6 Have you experienced just one lockup, or have you had a series of these lockups? - I had several lockups. If you've had several, how often does it occur? Every few hours? Once or twice a day? Couple times a week? - Couple times a week. When did you first notice it? - Around a year ago. Shortly after upgrading? - Can't remember, could be after the 12.10 upgrade. After updating? - Don't think so. After changing compositing (Desktop Effects) settings? - Never changed these. Under what conditions does it seem most likely to reproduce? - Undetermined, it happens during normal OS usage. It doesn't seem to happen when the laptop is idle. Only at boot time? - No, it can also happen after, let's say, several hours of working on the laptop. When resuming from suspend or hibernate? - I never suspend or hibernate the laptop. Only when using compositing (Unity, et al) Yes, it never happened when in a tty. When changing resolution or enabling/disabling monitors - I don't change the resolution or enable/disable monitors. When the screensaver (or power saving mode) kicks in - The laptop continues working properly when the screensaver or power saving mode kicks in. Visiting particular web pages or loading particular files - Not a particular web page, but it happens when I use FireFox, Google Chrome or Thunderbird. Switching between desktops - I never do this. When performing a specific sequence of actions (List them!) - I don't have a reproducable situation. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: dmesg output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247624/+attachment/3899201/+files/dmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247624 Title: Laptop screen is turned off, needs shutdown to work again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1247624/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247646] [NEW] Unable to boot Ubuntu (12.04 - 13.10) on MSI GT60
Public bug reported: I've been trying unsuccessfully to install Ubuntu on my new laptop for about 3 months now. When I try to boot Ubuntu (both UEFI and BIOS -legacy- modes) it always stays on a black screen. Booting with nomodeset option allows me to get to console pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1. I tried to install bumblebee and nvidia 319 drivers with no success. If I try to manually start the GUI I get the same black screen. The laptop has a dual graphics card (Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 744187] [NEW] [g45] Black screen on boot acer travelmate 5735Z, intel gma 4500mh
You have been subscribed to a public bug: There is a problem with the intel driver kms in Natty which causes the screen's backlight to switch off just after leaving the grub screen. Problem does not exist with 10.10 but exists with virtually every other recent distro out there (Opensuse 11.2 - 11.4, Fedora etc) which leads me to believe it's a bug inherited from the upstream that was fixed in maverick. The only way to boot the laptop successfully is by adding the nomodeset option, which unfortunately results in no 3D nor the correct resolution. I am currently back to maverick but I would love to use natty asap so thanks for resolving the bug. ** Affects: grub Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: black-screen -- [g45] Black screen on boot acer travelmate 5735Z, intel gma 4500mh https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744187 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 671015] Re: [g45] Intel GMA 4500MHD
c4r0nt3, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12-rc7 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 889586] Re: Emachines e525 cant see if turned comp, cant change brightness
Kangarooo Jānis, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . Thank you for your understanding. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 765438 8086:2a42 On startup, the backlight is off on laptop ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889586 Title: Emachines e525 cant see if turned comp, cant change brightness To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/889586/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
