[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434351] Re: X fonts and widgets disappear after suspend/resume cycle
It has been suggested that 2D acceleration on this new chip is to blame. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434396] [NEW] Xserver does not start, on boot (low-graphics mode)
Public bug reported: After upgrading to (32bit) vivid I hadn't got any problem, but since a day (daily upgraded) booting results in a dialog saying low graphics mode and a dialog window about this. Choosing running in default mode causes to boot splash to be shown forever. if I choose exit to console, log in then service stop then start for lightdm, it works then though. Maybe is not Xserver bug, but the new init system (systemd) race condition of starting things, or such? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434396] Re: Xserver does not start, on boot (low-graphics mode)
By the way I am not sure if it's related: on booting backlight of the LCD (of the notebook) is always set to minimal during the boot at one moment, barely visible (but surely I can use the keyboard Fn + corresponding key to increase to a readable level). It was also the situation with the previous ubuntu version ... Also I am using an external monitor through the VGA connector connected, till logging in, the login is presented on the notbook's own LCD (with that dimmed backlight ...) the external monitor has no signal at all till the login screen appears after that only an ubuntu logo is shown in front of my background picture. After logging in, the configured situation works, ie the internal LCD of the notebook goes off, and I can use the external monitor. In case of shutting the system down, the notebook's internal LCD turns on with that very dimmed backlight till the machine powers off completely. However this behaviour was more or less the same, now my current problem that X doesn't seem to start at all, which was not the case before. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434396 Title: Xserver does not start on boot (low-graphics mode) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1434396/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434341] Re: Intel HD5500: No video after suspend/resume cycle
Same for me: suspend / resume worked in Trusty (with xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.99.910-0ubuntu1) In Ubuntu Vivid (with xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.99.917-1~exp1ubuntu2build1) it is broken. Same behavior - screen stays black and I cannot switch to text console neither. 00:02.0 Display controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434341 Title: Intel HD5500: No video after suspend/resume cycle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1434341/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434581] [NEW] Console extremely slow with 3.13 and newer kernels for certified servers with Matrox G200er2 or similar
Public bug reported: When I first came across this issue I thought it was the same as bug #1316035 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg- server/+bug/1316035), but this bug seems to be about X and it is reporting xorg-server as the package with the issue. I've seen a report on the certification program already on this, but it was lacking follow- up and suggested a bug report, question 255332 (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/255332). I've already asked about this on the forums, and received no replies. I originally encountered this issue due to having a bunch of Dell servers that I was testing with kernel 3.13 on 12.04. The text console is so slow that it is unusable when using vi or doing an operation similar to dpkg -l |grep xorg. Comparing the exact same system with kernel 3.2 or 3.11 loaded and running lsmod, vesafb is listed and performance is excellent. It is not listed on the 3.13 system. The same issue exists on 14.04 with the 3.13 or 3.16 kernel. Attempting to do modprobe vesa or modprobe vesafb returns modprobe: FATAL: Module vesa not found and modprobe: FATAL: Module vesafb not found respectively. Attempting to use uvesafb on this hardware results in a black screen. Attempting to use vga16fb results in good performance, but I am locked to 640x480. I tried to use fbset to force higher resolutions, but it either results in a distorted display or tells me there is not enough memory. I need a 1280x1024 console with performance equal to 12.04 with kernels 3.2-3.11. The server I'm using for testing is a Dell R320. This appears to be regression as I can duplicate it by simply doing a fresh install of 12.04.1 and not having the issue, while doing a fresh install of 12.04.5, 14.04.1, or 14.04.2 results in a very slow console. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434581 Title: Console extremely slow with 3.13 and newer kernels for certified servers with Matrox G200er2 or similar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1434581/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1409332] Re: Mouse cursor freezes, when using e.g. youtube in chromium, and stays that way
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I can not make this happen, if I use Firefox, but it happens, if I use Chromium browser and play youtube video. Visible mouse cursor stops moving. Still I can move mouse and use it, but it is hard, when you don't see where the cursor effectively is. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5
The easiest way to fix this without installing extra packages (like cheese), is: 1. Downgrade the parts of the enablement stack that caused the problem sudo apt-get install --install-recommends xserver-xorg libgl1-mesa-glx libegl1-mesa-drivers 2. (Optional) Clean up extra packages sudo apt-get autoremove 3. Install fglrx sudo apt-get install fglrx 4. Reboot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434351] Re: X fonts and widgets disappear after suspend/resume cycle
With the workaround, I also notice that X's ability to resume on restart is a LOT faster, almost instantaneous. Previously on Trusty and Vivid, it would freeze up for a few seconds on restore. Actually, the screensaver/locker wouldn't even start until after the restore, and during the few-second freeze-up, the desktop was visible and insecure, but could not be interacted with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434351 Title: X fonts and widgets disappear after suspend/resume cycle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1434351/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
