[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481539] [NEW] X freezes when screen enters sleep mode
Public bug reported: When the system enters sleep mode, Xorg appears to freeze. When the system wakes back up, there is just a black screen. There is no apparent way to get the system back once this happens. Interestingly, the system does not appear to be completely frozen, in that it is still possible to SSH into the machine in this state. However, the local console is completely unusable. Note that this is on a very new Intel Broadwell-U notebook using integrated video. I am running Ubuntu 15.10 Wily x86-64. My Xorg version is: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1481330] Re: Reading/setting xprop on Xmir causes it to crash
GTK apps are breaking this because at-spi2-core is calling XCloseDisplay, not because of XGetWindowProperty. I tried commenting (https://git.gnome.org/browse/at-spi2-core/tree/atspi /atspi-misc.c#n1456, XGetWindowProperty call) and this bug still occurred. Then I tried commenting (https://git.gnome.org/browse/at- spi2-core/tree/atspi/atspi-misc.c#n1462, XCloseDisplay call) and it allows GTK apps to run without crashing XMir. Aside, to run GTK apps under XMir, pass the display name as a command line argument (--display :1) instead of setting DISPLAY/AT_SPI_DISPLAY. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481330 Title: Reading/setting xprop on Xmir causes it to crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mir/+bug/1481330/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
