[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275416] Re: touchscreen do not work after suspend/resume

2018-05-23 Thread Photon
I'm using a Thinkpad X200T with Manjaro and observe the problem
described here. It doesn't necessarily happen after the first
suspend/resume cycle but after some of them. The solution proposed in
#19 didn't work for me though. I got two devices displayed corresponding
to ttyS0 and ttyS1. Running inputattach for ttyS0 didn't have any
effect, running it for ttyS1 lead to a system freeze such that I had to
hard reset the machine. I will try again when the problem reappears and
report back.

problem, triggered using a gtk3 webkit browser written in perl (when
running on xserver with 4k resolution, javascipt enabled and scrolling a

same effect (segfault) occurs with version 0.32.6-3

serious indeed, affects all our appliances / customers...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1310038] [NEW] Screen switches off some seconds after wake up from suspend

2014-04-19 Thread Photon
Public bug reported:

I was running Xubuntu 12.04 on a Thinkpad X40 which has an Intel 855GM
graphics chip. On 12.04 suspend worked flawlessly. Yesterday I upgraded
to 14.04 and this broke suspend. The problem is like this: I close the
lid, the laptop goes to sleep. After some time I open the lid, the
screen goes on and if I'm fast I can even start typing in the password.
However, some seconds later the screen switches off again, though I can
hear that the system continues working. I can still switch to any TTY,
only X has no graphical output. If I kill X from TTY, it starts again, I
can login and then the system works as expected. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log
I see following lines:

(II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch
(II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch
(II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch

which exactly fits to my observations: On lid close the screen goes off,
on opening the lid it goes on and then after some seconds off again.

doesn't work directly after the boot, reconnecting always solves the
problem. The problem started to appear after the update from (Xubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 841801] [NEW] (WW) Serial Wacom Tablet stylus: bad data at 1 v=91 l=9

2011-09-05 Thread Photon
Public bug reported:

Thinkpad X60 Tablet, running Ubuntu Natty and Arch Linux. On Ubuntu
CellWriter (a handwriting recognition tool) has following problem: If
Xinput is deactivated it stops accepting input after finishing the first
stroke. If Xinput is activated it accepts several strokes for some
seconds but then locks up completely not accepting any input at all with
following error:

* Extended input device is generating invalid coordinates, disabled

At the same time in Xorg.0.log several lines like the following appear:

(WW) Serial Wacom Tablet stylus: bad data at 1 v=91 l=9

On Arch the same version of CellWriter works fine with Xinput both
activated and deactivated.

Xorg.0.log for both installs are attached. Note also the different
versions of Xorg. Maybe also interesting (not sure):

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590057] Re: gnome does not start after an update

I want to emphasize that this bug is critical and seems to appear quite
common in the past few days. About five users in the German
ubuntuusers.de forums have reported this bug already and beside of the
rescue mode there seems to be no workaround.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590057] Re: gnome does not start after an update

2011-01-15 Thread Photon
I'm experiencing a similar bug: After the update of the 12. December X
failed to start, I got a black screen and the keyboard didn't respond. I
removed the xorg.conf file (thus changing from the fglrx to the radeon
driver) and this resulted in following behavior: still a black screen
but with a movable cursor and a working keyboard (however it freezes
completely after some time). Creating a clean user didn't change
anything. But logging in via a rescue Gnome session worked. I compared
the .xsession-errors files from a normal Gnome session and a rescue
Gnome session and found the same lines as the original reporter. I
attach both .xsession-errors files and the dpkg log of the last updates
before the problem appeared.

If you need a workaround until the fix (?), this one has been pointed
out on the forums:

However, those commands have to be run at each session's start (you can
add them in Preferences → Startup Applications).

This bug only affect karmic, multi-fingers clicking works as expected on
jaunty (at least for me).

+1 by the way, the RC is not too far away. All the more that it seems to
be easily fixable…

By the way, there is a topic on the forums about it:
