Yes, I'm trying to configure Wandboard as WiFi host for iPad client. It looks like your notes provide the reason for lack of success. That's too bad. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
Its an AP or a completely separate network ? Which is not so good either. Is the iPad not supposed to be able to see the rest of your network ? It should work right now assuming you have wifi on your normal network and that the wakeboard is connected to that same network via Ethernet ? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
Humm. Maybe my poor terminology. I'm interested to enable wireless to allow iPad WiFi access to LMS web interface on Wandboard; but the wireless interface doesn't need to penetrate any further than the Wandboard. The Wandboard CSOS web configuration page shows other wireless networks (it can see them), but wireless devices don't seem to see the Wandboard. gregb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47178 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98709 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
Your "starter guide" notes helped - I have successfully booted, set timezone, mounted the server (manual and auto), configured LMS and scanned library, and streamed music to a squeezebox via hard wired network interface. Most excellent. I'm looking for WiFi setup hints to access to LMS on Wandboard via wireless. I want Wandboard to remain hard wired Ethernet to server (and squeezeboxes), and allow iPad WiFi access to LMS web interface on Wandboard. Essentially, the Wandboard provides a standalone wireless access point. so the mount you have set up is not permanent, it will be lost after a reboot. you need to put it in /etc/fstab. If you are scanning, do it before you reboot (and check it) so you don't lose the info. Thanks chunkywizard, will try as soon as I get my new toy. I am sure this guide will be very helpful for many new users - maybe it should also be made part of the Community Squeeze FAQs, so the info will not get lost. Even though the Community player was not invented to run a server, it would be a waste not to - seems pretty ideal to me. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
I can't do a dummies guide, because I'm a dummie when it comes to stuff like this but to mount a drive you need to get to the command line of the Wandboard. Heres a starter for 10 off the top of my head, but come back with questions when you are stuck. First load up PuTTY (it's a windows application). Type in the ip address of the Wandboard and hit open. You should be asked for a user name and password, both are fedora. You should then get a prompt, ie the command line of the Wandboard. From here you type mumbo-jumbo which makes the Wandboard do stuff ;-D To mount a drive you type stuff here and if it doesn't complain then it has probably worked. Eg Code: sudo mkdir /mnt/mymusic (the directory where you want the music to show on the Wandboard, called a mount point) Code: mount -t cifs //your server/yourmusicdirecotry /mnt/mymusic -o username=yourusername, password=x If you don't get any complaints then: Code: cd /mnt/mymusic ls And if you can see you music it has worked. Apologies to any people who really know what they are doing, there are probably better ways to do this! If you had success then you need to make this work even if you reboot. You need to do this: Code: sudo nano /etc/fstab You are now in an editor, where you are going to add a line into it. The editor is called nano and there are guides on the web but it's quite simple. Arrow down to a free line and type Code: //yourserver/yourmusicdirectory /mnt/mymusic cifs credentials=/home/fedora/.smbpasswd,gid=yourusername,uid=users 0 0 Then hit ctrl o, then return to confirm the file name then ctrl x and you should be back at the command line Next type: Code: sudo nano /home/fedora/.passwd username=yourusername password=x ctrl o, return, ctrl x All done, if you have typed correctly (and if I haven't made an error in the guide), just to test. sudo mount /mnt/mymusic or sudo umount /mnt/mymusic to mount and unmount the share. You should get no visual feedback and it's probably worked. Just cd (change directory) to the mount point to see if it's there (mounted) or not (unmounted) HTH CW Chunkywizard's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=25868 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98709 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
After you have the share mounted there is really nothing to it. You go to :8080, go to the server tab, and click enable and start. Then you go to :9000 and follow the instructions. You start by putting in your mysqueezebox details or pressing skip, then you point at the share you just mounted and then it's done and it's just like the regular Web GUI. The share is another thing. In the future it will be automatic but at the moment you need to do this manually. If you don't know Linux then this is pretty tricky but I can help and there's information in the CSOS thread. Thanks, gregb Greg, there isn't a starter guide for getting LMS running on the Wandboard. At the present time, you need to plug a USB drive into the Wandboard or access your music libary via network share, nfs (Unix) or cifs (Windows). Currently, the Web Configuration Interface only has the ability to enable and start the LMS service. You need to manually edit a file from a command line, (ssh into the device or using Putty from Windows), to mount your music share or drive. Chunkywizard has offered to write a guide, but it is not available yet.
