The struts validator guide says you can only join 2 values with and or or. I'm guessing that means you either have to put in a lot more parentheses or that you can't use and or or more than once. Yes it evaluates pairs - so you need more parentheses as Jasper says. Theres a validwhen example in the struts-examples webapp shipped with the binary distro.
