RE: Login issue on new install

2024-05-27 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi Stephan, Wei,

Sorry I have been out and just returned today.

You are indeed correct, I was entering the incorrect default password thinking
it was the correct one and it was just stuck. After clearing cache and entering
the correct default password it logged straight in so does appear to be a bug.

Thanks for letting me know!

Best regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

it sounds exactly like the issue we found last week and opened a github issue
for:
https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/issues/9123

Once you enter a wrong password, you are stuck in the spinning wheel page.
No error message about the wrong password will appear, like in previous
versions.
Even when you close the browser window/tab and open a new one with the url -
you will only see the spinning wheel and no login page.

You have to delete browser cache to be able to see the login page again.

Seems like a bug.

Best regards,
Stephan

Login issue on new install

2024-05-24 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi,

We've just built a new management server (ubtunu 23.04) and db server. Login
page loads, enter user and pass, then the login box just spins, it never times
out either.

Any idea what could be the issue or log to check?

Thanks

RE: Let's Encrypt

2024-05-20 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi Ruben,

Thanks for the info, do you mean running ACME on the reverse proxy? Anything
needing to be configured on the ACS management server?

Thanks

Ian

Ian, this is easily achievable by means of an ACME client (Certbot) and running
ACS management behind a reverse proxy. You can write a hook to upload a
certificate to the CPVM as well. (
https://cloudstack.apache.org/api/apidocs-4.16/apis/uploadCustomCertificate.html)
Just be mindful that the CPVM requires a wildcard certificate.

Hi,

Are there any plans to implement Let's Encrypt with CS? More so securing the
Management console and Proxy.

Thanks for the info, we will take a look at this as we do need to integrate,

Hi Kristian,

Does it do the hourly billing etc? I have heard of hostbill but obviously to
change to a new billing system would only be worth while if it fits the needs.

Could you care to explain what is WHMCS and how does that relate to CloudStack?
If it’s some integration or commercial module you’re better to reach the

I think there are several options that you would need to evaluate.

CloudStack has an inbuilt simple credit or prepaid based system, that's the
quota plugin you can try:
https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/plugins/quota.html

In addition to this, one can write their own billing logic on top of the usage
records APIs -
https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/adminguide/usage.html

Some of the commercial billing integrators that you may explore are - Apiculus,
StackBill, HostBill, Amysta, Stack Console. I may be forgetting a couple more
that the community might help suggest.

Regards.

I think this is the weak link of this entire project. Having a simple user
management and billing system would make the project worthwhile.
Pretty much all major contributors to this project are working to make sure
their proprietary subscription based billing works.

It looks the issue is caused by

(AgentManager-Handler-12:null) (logid:) Session [null] has been already used or

Hi Ian,

timesync should be ok in your environment. The CPVM uses UTC timezone, which is
different from the timezone setting of your management server (does it use BST
?)

Any errors in the management server ?

RE: NoVNC failed to connect

2023-06-12 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi Wei,

Ive checked the systemvms and they were both set to UTC, I have run apt-get
update and reinstalled tzdata on both and now both servers are reporting the
correct time in BST.

However, in the cloud.log, the time that its reporting the VNC connection is 1
hour behind than the time set on the consolevm server, the times below should
report 18 not 17 which is a bit strange.

The time on the management server is correct.

Do you think this is a time sync issue?

Thanks

Yes, it could be relevant.

Can you check if cpvm is time-synced with the management server ? If yes, can
you check if there are any errors in the management-server.log ?

All looks good.

Can you check /var/log/cloud.log in cpvm if there are some errors ?

Hi,

Can you check in the console proxy vm if the vnc ports are reachable ?

telnet 192.168.0.34 5900
telnet 192.168.0.34 5901

RE: NoVNC failed to connect

2023-06-10 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi Wei,

The Hypervisor is running Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

The Console Proxy is running Debian 11.6, ive also just destroyed it and let it
re create but the netstat shows there is no VNC ports running.

Thanks

Ian

Hi,

What OS do you use?

Normally you can find the ports listened on 5900/5901/... which are vnc ports
of vms.

The default password for root user is "password".
If you use ssh, password is not required.

Hi Ian,

Can you log into the console proxy vm, and check if the vnc port of (any) vm is
reachable ?
You can get the vnc port by command "virsh domdisplay" or "virsh vncdisplay" on
the kvm host.

NoVNC failed to connect

2023-06-07 Thread Ian Tobin
Hi,

We are currently testing CloudStack. We have setup with 3 nodes (KVM) and the
management server.

We have deployed a new instance but we are unable to connect to noVNC, the
error just says failed to connect to server.

We can connect to the systemvm proxy VM so unsure how to troubleshoot the issue.

At the moment there is no certificates installed so everything is over http.

Any ideas how we can troubleshoot this?

Thanks

Ian

Re: Quick installation guide issue

2020-04-03 Thread tobin
Hi,

The global settings host field has the value of 192.168.0.186 which is
the correct address for the host.

If I "View console" a blank pop up appears. If I try to ssh into the
the SSVM, I get "No route to host". It exists, as `virsh console
s-2-VM` shows "Apache CloudStack SystemVM 4.11.2.0", etc.

Thanks,
Tobin

Quick installation guide issue

2020-04-03 Thread tobin
Hi,

I've completed the instructions at
http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/quickinstallationguide/qig.html

1.

Home > Infrastructure > System VMs now displays two VMs with a "VM
state" of "Running" and an "Agent State" of "-".

Is this normal?

2.

If I select "New Instance" it displays no templates.

Surely the default template should be visible?

3.

If I try to ssh into the the SSVM, I get "No route to host". It
exists, as `virsh console s-2-VM` shows "Apache CloudStack SystemVM
4.11.2.0", etc.

Please advise.

Regards,
Tobin
