Hi :) Thanks for those links. Some useful information that does indeed contradict what i have previously heard about Base. It makes me wonder about the accuracy of other information i have seen about Base in a variety of places. No, of course i am not going to name names or divulge sources after the way i have been treated. I will quietly ask a few people to see how the misunderstandings arose and see what they say about the links you just gave. More importantly it gives me enough confidence to try out Base myself at work to see if migration is possible after all. Given that this is the first good news i have had about Base i still wouldn't recommend it to other people but it's obviously worth testing if there is enough time. For myself i will make time to test it. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Auto Filling Drop Down Boxes
Hi Tom, When there have been posts about this or that in Base, generally there have been quite a few people who have participated. It may be used more than most people realize. Shortly after Base became a part of OpenOffice, I converted, successfully, all of my data from Paradox to Base. If I had been using Access, it would have been slightly easier. Base has been an extremely dependable program for me. The only issue I've had is the one with Java. Yes, I'm aware of a couple of bugs, but none of those affect me in any meaningful way. I've been using it for about 8 years and would not change to anything else since it has worked so well for me, and it serves my needs. Quick and dirty draft of an embedded HSQLDB with US zip codes: http://www.mediafire.com/?1k312s62qupaqgb The form's dummy text field stands for all those name, address, phone, email fields that may be in a list of addresses. The list box lets you select one particular ZIP code which stands for one particular entry in the list of zips with ZIP, city, county, state. Query qReport merges the info of all tables: Dummy Text ZIP PO Name State LATITUDELONGITUDE - address #1 32009 BRYCEVILLE FLORIDA 30,52111-81,90605 address #2 20015 WASHINGTON DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA38,96926 -77,07095 address #3 10011 NEW YORKNEW YORK40,74092 -73,99977 Addr #4 10046 NEW YORKNEW YORK40,78075-73,97718 addr #5 56035 GENEVA MINNESOTA 43,6739 -93,34887 In theory it should be possible to create an nice looking report with x/y-chart indicating the positions by latitude and longitude. I don't get it in the report builder, may be because I really hate this tool. It's trivial to build such a report with chart on a Calc sheet though. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Don With LibO 3.3.4, assigning shortcut keys to special characters is not working. I record the macros, no problem, but after assigning the keys (e.g. ALT+a = á) when the shortcut is utilised the TABLE menu drops down. My first download was LibO 3.4 and when the shortcut assigning didn't work I removed 3.4 and installed 3.3.4. But, same problem. [libreoffice-users] Re: Fwd: Saving Window sizing
I had the same need. While customizing the program I went into TOOLS, OPTIONS, GENERAL and a few other locations and adjusted a few tabs, not specific to window maximising, but now my program opens with maximised window. I have no idea which part of what I clicked and unclicked did the trick but the fix is probably in there somewhere. I did turn the EXTENDED TIPS on and a while later when hovering and the tips were bugging me I turned it off and I also went into LOAD/SAVE, GENERAL and did some clicking. If you discover what it is that causes the window to open maximised, I'd appreciate the info for future use: garrymo...@yahoo.com -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Fwd-Saving-Window-sizing-tp3360439p3365563.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Boarders in calc
Hi What do I need to do for LibO to accept the shortcut keys, please? An alternative is to ignore the LO settings and just use the native operating system special keys. These then apply to ALL apps, not just LO. If you are under Linux they are called the Compose sequences: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compose_key http://fsymbols.com/keyboard/linux/compose/ You specify a keyboard key to be your compose key (generally called the Multi_key) (e.g., RightWin) and then press the sequences to get the desired character. e.g., é = Multi_key apostrophe letter e The combinations are defined in /usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose under openSUSE 11.4, YMMV. Here is an example of the definition: Multi_key apostrophe e: é U00E9 # LATIN SMALL LETTER E WITH ACUTE Defining the Multi_key assignment can be a trick, but under openSUSE 11.4 it is easy: Menu Configure Desktop Input Devices Keyboard Advanced Compose key position HTH, cheers, Andy -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
