Re: [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice 3.6 Base Handbook published
Thanks Jean. I just added it to the NA-DVD web page version so there will be a link there. The Handbook will be a part of the 4.0.4 version of my DVD ISO file. I also want to thank all of the German-to-English translation team members for all their hard work. It is hard enough creating a handbook or guide content, let alone translate from one language to another and have the new language version include all of the ideas stated or implied in the new version one the way the original one meant it to be. [if I am saying this correctly]. The more native language references out there for LO users, the better. Too many software companies will write their documentation only in their region's language. It is both good for our users and in a marketing sense to have our guides and handbooks in as many languages as possible. Without out multi-language translation teams, we could never accomplish this important task. Thanks to all of you. Hi :) You might like Mr Pitonyak's guide to macros https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#Programmers It's the last link in the Programmers section there. It is 3rd party documentation rather than official LO documentation but it has an excellent reputation even though it costs a bit. I can run existing macros, I just cannot find where to create new ones. Where do I go to create new one? Second, in writer I used to be able to delete the auto-text included with the download in auto-text (e.g. Business Cards). This no longer appears to be possible as the delete link is not opperating. How can I do this? Thanks. Hi, The record macro feature is turned off by default in the newer releases, it is however still there. For version 3.6: ToolsOptionsGeneral You will find a separate setting option for the macro recorder. For version 3.5.5: Same options dialog, but record macro is enabled/disabled by using the experimental features option. [I believe - if I'm wrong then it will be a separate option there also] Otherwise, the record macro feature has be considered rather buggy for a long while and if you do make heavy use of macros I would urge to take the time to learn how to write them directly, versus the record feature. One good resource for this is the Macro document put together by Andrew Pitonyak and available at: http://www.pitonyak.org/oo.php/ The branding is all wrong ;) but the information is still valid - for now.
