my sympathy to you; I feel very frustrated when this happens to me - finally, I've learned that it's due to the sensitivity of these new computers ... and the solution is to plop it back into place. You can't just drag it, you must hold down the Control key while double clicking the Slide Pane. Hi :) No idea. Surely you can just drag it back to one side or other or to the top where it should be? I'm guessing you have already tried that so my next effort would be to rename the User Profile but that seems a bit extreme!
