[libreoffice-users] SMF Extension for stocks not working on Australian stocks
I'd like to get the latest stock quote for Australian stocks but running the =getyahoo("BRL.AX",36) gives me N/A; whereas if I try =getyahoo("FB",36) which also doesn't seem right. Wondering why the Australian stock is showing N/A and the NYSE stock (FB) is showing a wrong value. Maybe you can find that which you seek, here - http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quotes/default.asp From: Chris Henderson Date: Sun, Jun 19, 2016 at 5:11 AM Subject: [libreoffice-users] SMF Extension for stocks not working on Australian stocks To: users@global.libreoffice.org I'd like to get the latest stock quote for Australian stocks but running the =getyahoo("BRL.AX",36) gives me N/A; whereas if I try =getyahoo("FB",36) which also doesn't seem right. Did that extension ever return correct values for Australian stock prices? That extension is highly dependent upon Yahoo Finance not messing things up. Something that happens every time somebody decides that they need to do something else to chase away their existing customer base, in their ongoing effort to become totally irrelevant everywhere. If you have the programming skills and patience in figuring what else Yahoo broke, you might be able to rewrite around the error message that Yahoo is throwing out. jonathon -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

(For the financial forecasts I make, using Calc, it takes an hour per forecast to transcribe data, plus the time it takes to ensure that the right data went in the right place. The problem that this extension is supposed to solve.) jonathon -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

I think I'll just move to Numbers that comes free with Mac. There seems to be some Apple script out there that apparently works without a hitch. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

I don't see any commits since March of 2015, but a couple of issues, with probable solutions, have been submitted since then. >I think I'll just move to Numbers that comes free with Mac. There seems to be some Apple script out there that apparently works without a hitch. If it relies on Yahoo Finance, it will break whenever Yahoo decides that a downgrade in their offerings is vital, to ensure the continual decline of their user base. jonathon -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
