There you can set the default language for documents (which will be used when
no language is set in the text). But any character of your text can have its
own language setting (think e.g. of translators who write bilinugal texts), so
you should make sure, that the language setting of the character you want to
check really corresponds with the spellchecker language. Even on paragraph
level you can have a certain language setting which overrides the default
setting but is overridden in turn by the setting on character level. (At least
that's how I understand it, though I did not check it for a while.)

Sure you've set the correct language? Language is a property of a character,
so it can be different for any single word or even on character level.

You can set it with Tools/Languages...

Re: [libreoffice-users] Spellcheck question

2012-03-05 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I think on Windnows and GnuLinux (using a Gnome or other non-KDE desktop
environment) it's Tools and then either Languages nad/or Options.  The Options
pop-up has a LOT of settings that are worth exploring.

Mac and perhaps KDE too seem to be a bit different.
Regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] Spellcheck question

2012-03-04 Thread Edwin Matheson
The spell check feature seems to stop at every word. Even simple words
such as ball, hit, the, etc. and suggests changes. How can I set it so
that it only stops at miss spelled words.

Thanks for your help.
