If solid modeling isn't important, there's always QCAD. The fully open source
version is included in Fedora, but it's a version behind the 'pro' version that
costs a little bit.

Just another option; I've used QCAD for a while and like it, but it is
definitely 2D only.

2011-12-06 Thread Leonardo Silveira
you can also do ldd $(which draftsight) and see the missing libraries.
Then do sudo yum whatprovides for each missing lib.

I didn't spend too much time trying to get it to work, it was probably
some 32-bit library I was missing. I decided that using an open source
program like FreeCAD which includes solid modeling (even if it uses
some non-free components) is still better than using something
completely proprietary.

I'm running Draftsight on F14 x86_64 now; it seems to work fine. I don't
recall having to do anything particularly special, but it has been a while
since I installed it.

like what?, cos all you really need to figure out is if your programs

I tried DraftSight many months ago while I was still running Fedora 14
x86_64 but never got it to run.

I'm working on packaging FreeCAD[1]*** on RPM Fusion, however, it's a
full solid modeling CAD, not just 2D. I'd be interested in
beta-testers though.

uses OpenCascasde which is non-free due to it's license, so FreeCAD
if/when approved will have to go into the RPM Fusion non-free

Are you using Draftsight (that is 32 bit
application) on your 64 bit system??
