Hi
Dear sir or madam, I am wanting to know a bit about open office. From the programmer to its newest news of it. Who started it? How long did it take to get the idea out there? Stuff like that, if you could.
James Ho is on leave from 21 April to 27 April 2014.

Re: ABC2 Television Series: 8MMM - Open Office usage query

We would love to download Open Office to use in our radio station offices - just to have something happening on the computer screen in there. Could you please advise me if any permissions are needed to have Open Office on display? It would mostly be incidental/background but there may be instances where an actor interacts with the computer a little. Short answer is Yes you can, to all your questions. Perhaps most significantly compared to commercially licensed products, given the stated desire to alter it, you're free to do that as well. Hello Miranda, thank you for considering OpenOffice... and Alan is mostly correct. However, situations like this one, where our products are displayed in a TV series, often imply a discussion about trademarks. OpenOffice can grant you a specific permission (for free). You can read more at http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/faq/ and to request a permission you should contact the Project Management Committee at priv...@openoffice.apache.org ; it will be enough that you forward your original e-mail, no paperwork required. http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0.html Section 6 protects our trademarks. This is important for us in a number of situations, especially to protect users when we detect fraudulent activity. Glad I did point her at the license and suggest her attorneys should take a look. For future reference is trademark the only element that would require authorization in a situation where there is a public display and/or the product is altered?

I have been using OpenOffice for years and never had a problem moving between versions. Why do you think there's a problem. What error messages are you getting? Did you download from www.openoffice.org? I hope you didn't pay someone for it, as it's free. --- List Conduct Guidelines: http://openoffice.apache.org/list-conduct.html To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
