On minor point I forgot to mention, that affects the defaults for
Microsoft Office formats, not the OpenDocument format that's the native
format for OpenOffice.

The only issue is OpenOffice will try to make itself the default
application for your documents. You can avoid this by doing a custom
install and ensuring it is not default. However, should it happen,
it's not a problem to change the default app at any time.
