[vdr] VDR exit and reboot in missing channels in multi card configuration. why?

2006-12-24 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi all,

I've a VDR system with 3 dvb cards. everything works fine when the
signal is ok, but if I've a timer on a channel that is not realy exist,
or when the BER in one of my receiving channels is high and the channel
is not receiving well, vdr thinks that there is a problem with dvb
drivers and exits to reload the drivers (or even system reboot if I
define it!) and spoils other concurrent recording timers.

The point is, why vdr doesn't detects that other channels are recording
well, and so there shouldn't be a problem with dvb drivers, and hence it
should not exit? is there any way to prohibit vdr from exit, if there is
well going recording on the other cards?

With the best wishes.

Ali.

[vdr] prevernting vdr restart on bad signal?

2007-01-06 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
hi all,

I've noticed that when the signal quality goes low ( high BER or high
UNC), and if a timer records that channel simultaneously, the vdr exits
continuously, and hence produces too many recording files.

How should I prevent vdr from exit, in this situations?

Thanks.

John.

[vdr] streamdev hang after short burst noise.

2007-02-14 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi all,

I've a vdr box that i use with streamdev plugin. I watch this streams
over my windows computer with vlc.

But now, there is some random noise that appears in my input signal,
causes to streamdev to fail completely. the noise time is so short that
vdr works and does not restart, but I should restart it to restart
streamdev server.

Any clue or solution for this problem.

With the best wishes.
John.

[vdr] dvbstream and vdr streamdev streaming format difference?

2007-02-24 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi all,

I'm thinking to write a simple udp clone of vdr streamdev plugin.

I tested dvbstream, but the problem is I couldn't play dvbstream streams
with videlan, which is only player that I know works with linux and
windows and could play streamdev streams.

Does anybody know what format streamdev streams, and why videolan could
not play dvbstream streams?
although dvbstream says it uses rtp over udp protocol, and videolan has
an option to play this.

[vdr] dvb driver failure detection?

2007-08-24 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi all,
I'm using a VDR system with 4 skystar2 cards.
I'm disabled vdr watchdog and code line who jumps out vdr when the signal is
noisy, because when this enabled, and I have noise in one frequency, vdr
jumps out and ruins all other input recordings.
But there are some times that all recordings fail. I suspect to DVB driver,
because VDR records, but file size of recordings are 0, and when I restart
system, every things go well again.
The question is, how I can detect dvb driver failure, rather than signal
failure, to restart system just in driver failure times?

Thanks.

[vdr] vdr memory leak when record noisy signal.

2007-09-10 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi,
I'm using kernel 2.6.20 with vdr-1.4.7 with streamdev plugin. When I'm
record even more than 10 simultaneous video timers, the memory consumption
is below 400 MBytes.
But when any noise appears in the signal, the memory goes up to 1 Gigabyte,
the whole system memory, then system starts malfunctioning.

Sometimes when I restart vdr, the memory frees, and sometimes I should
restart the whole system to free up the memory.

Where is the source of this memory leakage? Why the vdr doesn't free up
memory when the noise goes out?

Thanks.

[vdr] A VDR compatible dvb-s card with CI interface recommendation?

2008-04-16 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi,

I Want to buy a new DVB card to watch TV channels with VDR. The important
point is I want it to have CI interface, So I could use CAM to view
encrypted channels.

I knew cards such as NEXUS, but they discontinued long time ago. I also know
Technisat SkyStar HD 2, but as I know it is not compatible with VDR.

So, Does anybody has recommendation for a card with this conditions?
1: good compatibility with VDR, Linux and good stability.
2: Has CI interface, and CI is supported under Linux and VDR.
3: Be in production.

Thanks.

As I said before, I know some cards, but I don't know which are supported
under VDR, especially its CI part. For instance, I don't know if I buy a
SkyStar HD 2, would it, and its CI is supported under VDR, because
MultiProto should be available for VDR in 1.7.0.

[vdr] peculiar EPG problem.

2012-07-15 Thread Ali H.M. Hoseini
Hi,

I faced a very peculiar EPG problem. I'm using VDR with DVB-T usb sticks in
IRAN. The EPG language is Farsi (Persian).
The problem is, from 32 alphabets of Farsi, more than 18 of them are shown
correct in EPG and epg.data file, but remaining characters are shown as ?
or !. most of this wrong alphabets belong to the end of alphabets order in
Farsi.

I'm sure encoding is UTF-8, because I could guess complete sentence with
correct characters.

Any ideas?

Best regards.
A. Hosseini.
