[Veritas-bu] Stream Performance

2007-06-11 Thread Marcos DeLima
Hi all, I think some you faced that problem before. When we start a NBU job it
negotiates the data stream speed. Depending on the server load that negotiation
could result in a low profile connection. When the server load decrease we use
to SUSPEND the backup job and RESUME so Netbackup will renegotiate the data
stream again, as a result we get a data stream ten times faster than the first
one. My question is if there is a way to make Netbackup speed up the streams by
itself. Any of you guys has any ideas? Marcos DeLimaNetbackup Support 2nd tier

Re: [Veritas-bu] Networking / client issue?

2006-10-17 Thread Marcos DeLima

Hi Dan,

Did u check for the host performance? Heavy processes may cause "STOP RESPONDING" or 54 Error.
Open the event viewer and check if you see some Volume Shadow Copy or MS Volume Shadow Copy. Ensure these services to be in MANUAL and STOPPED.

I have been having an issue with one of my clients backing up getting a 54 Error.  I tried some basic network troubleshooting, like checking the duplex, which was fine and also made sure that port 13782 is listening on the client.  All of that seemed fine, and if I am on the client, I noticed that I can telnet client 13782 which works fine.
Going to the master server and telnet client 13782 gives the following
# telnet client-host 13782 Trying 10.10.x.x... Connected to client-host. Escape character is '^]'. gethostbyaddr: Error 0 Connection to client-host closed by foreign host.
Suggestions on what else to try?
Thanks,Dan

Re: [Veritas-bu] Restoring backups which have alerady expired

2006-10-17 Thread Marcos DeLima

Wessan,

I friend of mine just gave the clue.
What you need to do is to go the CATALOG (NBU 5.1) and on the top you will find a combo, there select IMPORT (ACTION/you might have verify and duplicate as well). Give details in order to find you tapes/bkups images. As soon as you find the images, click 1st over initiate import by right clicking, after all the processes done, go over these images again and right click over IMPORT. When these processes are done, you must find the restores again in the catalog.

My Direct email is [EMAIL PROTECTED], fell free to email directly.

I have two backup policies for 2 critical databases dated 19th of Sept. with 2 weeks retention. I urgently need to retore it now however this backup has ofcourse already expired so I cannot see it in the restore window.
Is there any way to retrieve the records for this backup and restore it ?

Re: [Veritas-bu] license question re NDMP backup

2006-07-05 Thread Marcos DeLima

Hello, I´m new in the block.

Regarding your problem I do have the same scenario as you. The trick is to add NDMP license on your NetBackup (BP) server. It should solve the problem.
In the veritas support webpage look for Veritas Netbackup 4.5 for NDMP. I know you might have a newer version of BP but it will be very useful.

I hope this is useful
