[Veritas-bu] Expiring images and tapes
Hi Guru's I ran into a situation that is new for me. For some reason duplicates received a expiration date that is much later as intended. Now as the expiration of the images, and tapes should occur, they stil have more than a year to go. So I want to expire them and use them again as scratch tapes. I tried som steps to expire them but I still don't have the result I want. Question what is the complete procedure to expire tapes which have active images ? How about with the backupid: bpexpdate: -backupid backup id -d mm/dd/ HH:MM:SS | 0 | infinity [-client name] [-copy number] [-force] [-M master_server,...,master_server] Patrick Whelan NetBackup Specialist Architect Engineering +44 20 7863 5243 Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most! - Unknown There are only 10 kinds of people on earth - those who understand binary and those who don't. ... I think because it are copy 2 tapes, when I try this on a single tape it works fine but on those duplicates it doesn't expire the tape. Seems there is still a connection between the copy 1 tape and the copy 2 tape. So if you bpexpdate one tape, it should expire any copies on that tape. Does it do so? It will not expire copies of the same image on other tapes. You'd use the (-m MEDIA) option if you want a piece of media to be cleared, expiring any remaining images still on it. You'd use the (-backupid BACKUP_ID) option if you want all copies of an image on any tape to be expired.
