Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 MP5 - solaris 10
There is a patch for this that fixed it in the end so you don't need to worry about it. If you have patched to the latest rev of solaris you should be OK, can't remember what the patch id is. Be careful to make sure you don't get SUN to update netbackup as the patch bundle included them last patch release we ran. -Original Message- From: Jeff Lightner [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, 16 May 2008 7:22 AM To: Pekala, Laura; Justin Piszcz; Clooney, David Cc: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 MP5 - solaris 10 I'm not sure going from hpux to solaris is an "upgrade". :p -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pekala, Laura Sent: Thursday, May 15, 2008 4:04 PM To: Justin Piszcz; Clooney, David Cc: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 MP5 - solaris 10 Be sure to put an entry in /etc/system concerning tcp_fusion We upgraded from hpux to solaris 10 a few months ago and had issues where the backups just wouldn't run and no errors were generated -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Justin Piszcz Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 7:20 AM To: Clooney, David Cc: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 MP5 - solaris 10 On Mon, 14 Apr 2008, Clooney, David wrote: > Hi all > > I have just been delivered a new Solaris 10 media server. > > As this is the first Solaris 10 media server in our environment, can > anyone point out any pitfalls that differ from solaris 8 regarding the > installation. Re: [Veritas-bu] NBU 5.1 MP5 - solaris 10
Hi Dave, My experience is with 6.0MP4 but you may see the same performance increase. I have a variety of servers which range from V240 - V890s to E25K domains with 4-8 boards assigned. I got about a 20% increase, sometimes a lot more and sometimes less. In the end it depends on the DB, file sizes or whatever you are trying to backup. Anyway, I recommend you do not put any entries into /etc/system as anything I had in there seemed to be smaller than what Sol 10 booted up with. I would be curious to hear your experiences so keep us up to date.
