Using braille sense as a braille display with more than 1 IDevice
Hey listers, gotta quick question. It's my understanding, and correct me if not, that you can easily switch between IPAD, IPHONE, and other iDevices, using your braille sense as a display. I have been successful at using my braille sense with both iPad and iPhone, but I have been having the hardest time switching between the two. I don't mean at the same time, but sometimes I like using my iPad, and sometimes for other situations I'll use it for my phone. So, after using it with my iPad today, I decided to switch devices and use my phone, so when I ended the terminal session on my notetaker, and started a new session and went to connect it using my phone, it kept giving me the error, connection unsuccessful, and the whole, make sure it's turned on and in range, bit. I tried rebooting both phone and sense notetaker, and the only way I finally got my phone connected again, was by actually going in and pairing it with my braille sense in the bluetooth manager, which I could have sworn the help file said you don't have to do, that it should just find it. So, what am I missing? > Thanks for any help, > Kerri > -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Update on facebook texting
Hi all, Well, I wrote the other day, and for some reason, I've been having problems reading the list messages I've been receiving, so I'm not sure if anyone responded on the topic I sent a message about last week regarding my problem with getting texts from fb even though I had it set up. Well, I saw that my husband is still receiving them just fine, and we're on a mobile share plan, so still not receiving them is strange. I compared my settings on fb and in both of our phones, and they're all the same. So, if it's not the carrier, then it couldn't be fb unless I have a hidden setting somewhere that I'm not aware of. I'm trying to think of things I've changed or thisings that may have changed when it stopped, but nothing is coming to mind. Any more ideas and suggestions would be great! Facebook and sms notifications
Hi list, If this has been discussed before, please point me to the post. Anyway, I have not been receiving texts about comments, messages, requests, birthdays, or events, that I have made sure to check. Everything is checked in the appropriate settings, and all is well in my settings app on the phone. So I'm not sure what to do. Also, when I check into somewhere, all I see is, where are you, but it's searching constantly. I have also made sure that location services are on. What could be the problem here? Regardthe the text notifications, I have reported the problem so maybe I'll get something back. Also, I have the ability to post sms status updates, but when someone comments back, I have to go into fb to check for the comments. So, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have removed my number twice as the facebook help center article suggests, to no avail. Thanks for any suggestions or tips you may have. using a Braille Sense with an Ipad mini
Hi all, I have been having the hardest time getting my Braille Sense to connect to my iPad mini. I had ios 8.2 on it, and it wouldn't connect, it kept getting the error, "Braille sense is not supported." When I updated to 8.4 to try it out and see how I like it before updating my iphone, it still wouldn't connect and still says, "Braille sense is not supported." Am I not doing something right, or is the braille sense really not supported on the mini? I even got one error message that was a little different that said, "Please make sure Braille Sense is turned on and ready to pair," or something very similar to that. So, given that I have received 2 errors, I figure it may not be that the braille sense is not truly supported, but maybe it's just not seeing it. It asks for my pin code correctly and all, but after that, it doesn't recognize the pairing and gives me those errors. How can I rectify this? My apple keyboard is the only thing I can use with it right now, being that I can't pair my braille sense. Does it matter at all that I also have my braille sense paired with my iphone too? Do I have to unpair or forget it on my phone before it will work with my iPad? I even turned off bluetooth on my phone to see if it would help my Ipad recognize it, but that didn't seem to do anything. facebook messenger alerts
Hi list, First, happy New Year to all! Wish you the best! I just had a quick question for anyone who may be able to help. I use facebook messenger, and I'm trying to get it where voiceover will not read the banner notification and broadcast my messages to whomever's in earshot. I went to settings, and notifications, clicked on messenger, and tried setting it to no alerts displayed, sounds were left on, and badges I tried both off and on. I noticed that whenever banners were off, and no alert was selected, but sounds were on, the dinging sound messenger makes would not sound when the screen was unlocked. I did the same with my text messages, and it works just fine. The text alert sounds, but the alert style is set to none, and it's just perfect. But no matter what, I can't get the messenger alert to sound alerting me to a new fb message. Whenever I open messenger, ever since I turned alerts off, it will always display a message that tries to force me to change notifications, which is annoying. Anyway, can someone tell me how to get messenger to sound the alert, but voiceover to stop reading the banner displaying my message so it won't be heard? waiting to upgrade
Hi all, Due to the number of possible bugs in this new update, I think I will be following the list's advice as a whole and waiting to update till at least some of the bugs are fixed, which undoubtedly it will happen sooner or later. But as for the reader app, as you all can tell, I am chomping at the bit for it, and still waiting as patiently as possible, but no sign of it yet. I guess when KNFB reading technologies said, alongside ios 8, they didn't literally mean on the same day as I originally hoped and expected, but, as they say, it'll come when it comes. lol. Thank you all for the advice and the info. Keep it coming. Kerri Sent from my iPhone -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. upgrading question and knfb
Hi listers I just had a quick question. If this has already been addressed, could someone please refer me to the topic link? My question is: How long does everyone think is long enough to wait before updating to Ios 8, to determine what bugs and problems others have that have decided to update right away? And regarding knfb reader, do I necessarily have to update first, or is this just a suggestion for optimal functionality and will still work ok with 7? Problem with Siri and raised to speak with new version of software
Good afternoon everyone, My apologies if this post has already been sent before, but I just have a quick question. I just updated my iPhone to version seven, and I noticed a problem with Siri when I use it with the race to speak function. Sometimes it doesn't seem to want to listen as it should, but at other times it will go ahead and listen, but after it dings, there is no response. When I lower the phone away from my face and touch the screen, I noticed that it has brought up whatever I have asked for Siri to bring up, but I thought it was supposed to dialogue with me just as it does when I use the home button. I noticed that it also happens with my husband's iPhone for S, which is also updated. I thought I was supposed to be able to dialogue with Siri without lowering the phone just as I do when using the home button. Could anyone shed some light on this? Thank you very much and I look forward to your responses. Kerri Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. new color visor app, and, IOS6 sluggish
Hi listers, I'm a new member and just had a quick question about the ColorVisor app. I have an iPhone 3GS, by the way. When I click on ColorVisor in the apps page of my phone, it opens just fine, but then the color scanner comes on and it constantly scans everything around me and will just name colors left and right, and it doesn't allow me to change any settings because the app just keeps talking. Is there a way to only scan when I want to scan, or is it made to scan constantly like that? Also, IOS 6 is very sluggish with VoiceOver. I just downloaded the software update last week and it's been slow ever since, hanging up frequently and opening pages extra slowly and making the speech stutter. Any ideas on either of these topics?
