RE: saved or favorite places nolonger accessible within google maps app
Do a 4-finger single tap on the bottom half of the screen which is the gesture which takes you to the last element on the screen, this will be the "Update tab". Now you can flick left and get to the other tabs, Contribute, Saved, Go, Explore. The other option is to do a 3-finger swipe up on the screen until you get to the last page, it will then say at the very bottom "You are all caught up" and if you swipe right you land on the Explore tab, then you can swipe right to Go, Save, Contribute and Updates. Re: saved or favorite places nolonger accessible within google maps app
For a few versions now, you can access your saved places on the saved tab at the bottom of the screen. Once you select that tab, all your favorites are right there. Then if you flick up or down on any favorite you will find more options. I double checked just now running 16.1 using VoiceOver.
