iPhone's magnifier is of no use, doesnt provide much zoom in, it has
serious problem with stability. myself being partially sighted, have
never been successful in using iPhones magnifier. Though there are
couple of good apps in android which provide much better focus and
stability.

No, Zoom is for magnifying the screen; but Magnifier allows you to use the 
phone like a hand-held magnifier.
It has a slider to go from 1x to 15x, and you can adjust the color filters, 
invert colors, do a freeze frame shot, lock the focus; much like many costly 
hand-helds.
