Re: EyeTV device replacement

2019-01-04 Thread Neil Houghton
I must admit that since I got a (quite cheap) smart TV I have not watched very
much live TV, or gone to my old TV recordings/downloads or played any of my
DVDs.

I don't even subscribe to any pay TV services - I spend most of my viewing time
with SBS On-demand (great European TV series) and iView (but getting harder to
find good stuff on iView)

However, since I do have an attached USB HD, I can also pause or record live TV.

Of course my viewing tastes are probably not mainstream - for example, I have
no interest in TV sport.

It seems to me that conventional TV (watching live TV) and even recording live
TV for later viewing will soon go the way of letters with stamps on them - a
nostalgic (or not so nostalgic) memory for us oldies ;o)

I guess time will tell.

Cheers

Neil

Thanks Walter

I will get in touch with Daniel.

The Geniatech website seems to be blocked for on-line sales. Possibly only
open to EU countries?

Have to dust off the set top box and DVD burner!

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,

When my device failed I got a new one from Daniel (McWizardry). When EyeTV was
still owned by Elgato. That was much much cheaper, it was a Hybrid type with 2
separate coaxial inputs.

EyeTV device replacement

2019-01-04 Thread Alan Smith
My EyeTV device (DTT deluxe) is damaged and unrepairable. Any suggestions for
a replacement? EyeTV preferred but are other brands available for iMac
recording and AppleTV playback?

Geniatech website displays a range of models but for Europe. Diversity and
Hybrid models are listed which used to be suitable for Australia. Amazon AU
advertise Hybrid - for $800 plus (!) - but specify it as NTSC which I thought
was the old American standard.

Cheers
Alan
