Re: opie's three wishes
While I followed the link to see psychic phenomena misspelled, and didn't see THAT, what I did see was even better. I found I can watch Andy Griffith on my cell! Now, for ME that is BIG BIG news. Two Chairs No Waiting 131: Opie the Man
***Two Chairs No Waiting 131: Opie the Man*** This episode you’ll hear just a bit more about the Pine Ridge, AR connection to the people of Mayberry. Did you know that Gomer’s grandpa is from the home town of “Lum and Abner?” That’s right! Gomer’s Grandpa, Sergeant Otis Pyle, is a very close relative of Abner Peabody. Next we’ll hear some feedback from a fellow listener before we get into the actual topic of our show. Finally we’ll get into the meat of the show. We all know what a wonderful son Andy Taylor has and we’ll take a few minutes to be reminded. I know we’ll all agree that Opie is a man. http://www.TwoChairsNoWaiting.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Three Point Two
I agree that the 3.2 may have been Otis's blood level count for a long time. But remember that most things worked out for the best in Mayberry. Otis eventually got sober and became an entreprenur (business innovator) by opening his own business - Otis's Ice Cream Mobile Delivery Vehicle - and he had the license to drive the truck. - The Gollywobbler ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Count ISTVANDELEKY (or whatever)
You know, every time I hear that name pronounced, I hear it as "COUNTESS", not COUNT. Strange, isn't it? Lucille (Shoulda been in Miss Crump's class) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Otis and beer
Didn't Skippy once say that there was a place over near Yancey that served beer. Maybe that's where Otis got his. He also could have gone all the way to Raleigh. That's where Andy had a glass while dining with Peggy. re: Word usage and spelling
Not to put too fine a point on it, but "prey" can stand alone as a verb. e.g., "The lion will prey on the gazelle." - Original Message - From: "Harriet Browder" To: Sent: Friday, April 15, 2011 7:07 AM > However, in the TAGS quote, "preying on my mind", the word "preying= is not a > noun - it is a verb. Miss Crump would be proud to put you at the head of the class because you don't have to stomp your feet counting to 50! Now that Ernest T. can read and write a little, do you think he can tell time? 3.2 percent and my response
Thanks to all who wrote in about what 3.2 is. I assumed it was just that. Alcohol. I was more interested in Otis's 3.2 drinking days. Evidently he started out with the mild stuff ( though still intoxicating ) and worked his way into the illegal moonshine ring. I could dig deeper and asked where he bought his beer back in his younger days if he was just that .. a beer drinker in Mayberry . Obviously he was a resident of Mayberry ( and Mayberry was a dry town/county ) since his first offense was in Mayberry. Wait maybe the report Andy read was just that, his first offense in Mayberry at that time. Otis may have lived elsewhere and then once he moved into Mayberry found the spirits their were just as lively as Count Istavantaleky ( spelling ? ). ps. I did not know that the book of Psychic Phenomona was missprinted on the book that Andy held in the episode of Opies 3 Wishes- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41oKGW1sdk4&feature=related Holland Lexington NC Less than 1 hour from Mayberry ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

3.2
I always thought 3.2 was in reference to Otis's blood alcohol. I think it's due to the fallout that has affected the milk suppy. Keep a good thought. Mike "the scamp" Haviland ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
