2010-05-31 Thread Alemi Kenyi

Comrades,

I would like to thank the organizers of the night Opigo Rogers, Afema Robert et
al, for a successful event.

The numbers were overwhelming and like the MC announced, every drink had
something small added on for WN Foundation. I believe this is a more viable way
of raising money than many of pledging on the net and not fulfulling our
pledges.

Well done once again. I was part of the closing committee (i dont remember the
time exactly).

Regards,

Alemi

Dear all,
I thought this matter had been rested. I am surprised it is still going on, may
be we have nothing else to dicsuss. I have explained all my reasons, I have
said I will not apologize or deregister myself and let people to judge and take
decision! This might just be a trick to keep provoking me so that I am
dergistered but I wont succum.  Discussing something else would be useful. I
know Ajedra wanted me to read Buga's email below, but to me this was a mere
gossip, those who gossip and dont let it to your face fear what they are
saying. I always ignore my gossipers, including Buga untill he faces me. He
didnt sent the email to me, he went round his friends/cliques to get it to me,
so why waste people's time on it. Surely, if you want to express your feelings
to me, why sent it to other people. I sent my email to the net not to a few
individuals.
He immedaitely degerstered himself, then asked people to send it to me if they
feel like, how amusing! it is of no use to keep bringing it here, otherwise we
would be gossiping him which is not in my interest. You can have a hundred lists
of people in his support but that doesnt change the fact. Majority is always
not right and I dont go by majority when I know that majority is not right. The
email has rightly brought out who he is and he made the right decision to
deregister. If I was the wrong person then his reply should have reflected the
right person he is. Leaders MUST be tolerant to alternative views. If I had
attacked, then efforts would have been made to correct the attack but everybody
also attacked instead so who is to blame and for what? So let bussiness come
back to normal and we continue. Please we need a different topic.

Christine

Dear Westnilers,

Allow me comment on the ping-pong communications between members on the above
captioned.  I had earlier on advised that this forum should be used by
individuals to further their political anger or views or ambitions.  The
comments of the pass weeks on westnilenet has affirmed my caution.

In my so many years in government (not in Uganda) I have come to realize that
constructive criticism and partnership with government (as opposed to
destructive criticism) works when it comes to achieving development for a
region such as ours.  That is why policy decisions (such as relating to
development of an area are formulated and agreed in Cabinet - who are mostly
selected from members / government in power) while the Parliament merely
formulates the necessary laws to effect the policy decisions of the Executive.

Has any of us wondered why after 47 years of independence our region is not
connected to the national grid while Uganda supplies power to Kenya, Tanzania
etc?  This is inclusive of the 8 years we were in government!  I am sure it
should not come as a surprise to us all that to connect west nile to the
national grid is much cheaper than the cost of Karuma - Arua tarmac road.

Has anybody wondered why it took almost 45 years to have Karum - Arua road
paved with bitumen (inclusive of the 8 years we were in government)?  Has
anybody wondered why we feel marginalised when it comes to the development of
the west nile region.  Do we have body / forum that brings our political
leaders (MPs, LC5 etc) together such as those of Acholi and Karomong
sub-regions where issues affecting our people are discussed and positions
taken?  Who is the chairman of such a body if it exists?  Why is that not the
case when other regions have?

There is no unity amongst our elected leaders which by extension includes us
all.  Each elected person feels he/she knows it all and would like to be the
custodian of the solutions to the problems facing our people.  May be we should
start thinking outside the box for the solutions to our problems in the
region.  The ping-pong communications on the net does not and will not yield
any meaningful result.

Mr. Bugason was right to suggest that he hopes what we say or write on

Thank you so much Willo,

Cathy's concerns have seriously been taken in to consideration and the

I would also like to thank every one who made it to the event for their

Thirdly, members will agree with me that, this will give us identity and

Lastly, we could find ways of doing merchandising for this to generate revenue

The management of Palui will be giving us 100 complementary tickets every theme

was a proposal to officially launch this night next Friday 5th March and if
members are in agreement we hope to bring in JM Keneddy and DJ Guido to help

Thanks Robert,

This arrangement must continue and no one should underestimate its contribution
to our society, culture and unity.

It is worth noting that this arrangement is not a substitute of the formal
meetings that are yet to be held to discuss the serious issues and strategies
of westnile as indicated in earlier mails, but rather an arrangement that can
enhance mobilisation and feed into future strategies.

I know with time other innovations like holding meetings before the music takes
off will come in but this should come after we have sustained the participation
at the venue.

Unity must continue.

Hi All,

Thank you all for the big turn up for the launch of Westnile night earlier in
the month. It was overwelming and some Westniler told me that; he has been in
touch with several members on Phone and mail not until that night when  he
managed to physically see the “CHAIRMAN” Eza….what?  after 7 years and this to
me meant a lot.

I was impressed to see friends travel all the way from Moyo to join us here in
Kampala  and that truly was a spirit of unity.

Now; this Friday 26th March 2010 we are on again. This time we shall have the
traditional dance from Nebbi district commonly reffered to as “Ndara”and this
is serious you can ask Fred Onyai, Patrick Oyulu or our randy Sagaraand
perhalps we shall ask Patrick Idringi to do what he does best to give us a hint
on what happens in Koboko. And Next month we shall feature talent from Moyo
Adjumani areas to complete the circle.

Look forward to seing you all and remember password for entrance is AFEMA and
this entitles you to free entrance before midnight.

Lastly we promise this time DJ Ronny of Matonge will fully take charge to play
the Music we all embrace.

region and preferably Lingala which many from west nile identify with so much.

Among other things, this theme night proposed to take place every last Friday
of the month will give an opportunity to promote prominent and upcoming artists
from west nile by featuring each time we have this night.

Secondly, I believe it will also be an avenue for members who are around
Kampala to sociate, interact and probably agree on some of the topical issues
being discussed on mail.

Thirdly, members will agree with me that, this will give us identity and
promote unity among other things.

Lastly, we could find ways of doing merchandising for this to generate revenue
for WNF.

The management of Palui will be giving us 100 complementary tickets every theme
night and this number can grow over time  so long as the turn up is good. There
was a proposal to officially launch this night next Friday 5th March and if
members are in agreement we hope to bring in JM Keneddy and DJ Guido to help
kick start the process.

For more info you may contact Rogers Opigo  0772450207 and Afema Robert

Apollo,

Thanks for your feedback and I believe one night every monthis a good idea and
it’s upto our schedules to see when to attend or not depending on availability
which will even give members opportunity to know some of the faces behind
constructive ideas on mail.

I earlier stated in my initial mail, I think launching it next Friday is not a
bad ideal and then plan for the first night which comes after some time and we
shall through some of the contacts in media push awareness for the same.
