--- Comment #5 from Krinkle 2012-02-19 07:44:53 UTC ---
Could be related to the special page name ("Log") being translated. Although
that was supposed to be reverted and afaik was.

There is an API to translate special page names but right now bot maintainers
don't know about this and it has worked for years.

The the CVN[1] this is breaking all after-log-action hooks they have (including
those for reporting of local blocks and preventing cross-wiki vandalism). As
well as our hooks for the patrol-action, delete-
action, upload-action (commons upload patrol!) on others.

A change in 1.19 to the irc.wikimedia.org recent changes feed has broken
multiple bots and tools that rely on it. It appears that the change was made to
log reports, but I am not sure exactly what was changed in the format. The
Countervandalism network bots are failing to report log actions, and StewardBot
is not properly reporting user right changes. I have heard of other tools being
affected by this too. If this can be looked into, that would be great. Thanks.

For example protect-expiring(-local), instead of "expires $1 (UTC)" / "expires
$1" could be something like: "expires $1 (UTC)"

Which will end up with a js replacement ending up with something like "expires
in 5
minutes".

Not input format, output format. As in what format of time js should insert

If I upgrade a wiki from 1.18wmf1 to trunk after r111695, then until the
startup module expires (5 minutes) I get errors "mw.user is undefined" and
"mw.util is undefined", it doesn't get as far as mw.user.options.

I don't think that is the bug we're looking at here. But as an aside, would it
be possible to reduce the startup module expiry to a few seconds, or remove the
Expires header entirely, prior to deploying a new version?

This is due to the page-html being cached by 1.18 and loaded with references to
1.19 bits.wikimedia.org serving stylesheets. This is recorded as bug 34504 and
is not ResourceLoader or IE7 related.

Could be wontfixed if there's a sufficient work-around.

This is what was causing the "Jump to navigation" links to appear on cached
pages after the 1.19 roll-out. Also when 1.17/Vector was introduced, this bug
broke a gazillion pages by turning their layout into an ugly mess for ~ 30 days
due to cache html and stylesheet references.

Fixable?

The easiest fix I could see is that the software wouldn't need to replace
anything except at the time of upload. If something called Foo.PIC is uploaded
and the software sees that it is a JPEG, it is named Foo.jpg. Then no other
image is allowed to be uploaded at Foo.***. So the software is actually
renaming the images to the normalized titles before they are fully uploaded.
The software wouldn't touch existing files, and existing conflicts would be
allowed. The only thing changed would be the file uploader and file moving.

This would NOT fix the problem, but it would be an easier stop-gap. .JpeG and
.JPG would still be allowed by the architecture, just no more would be created.

Well It would make more work on the next upgrade then, Since we would likely

And if someone did it and did some more improvements on it (even if they just

Just to point out the rename logs off on all wikis not just the wiki user was
renamed on.

A user seeking a SUL rename would have a constant case of this as b'crats on
individual wikis will not be renaming all at the same time.

The log off does not happen to the previous SUL account.

[Bug 34498] New: Automatic headline when answering feedback should be editable

editable
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

When answering - via Special:FeedbackDashboard - to a feedback given via
Moodbar, the answer is posted to the user's talk page automatically, with the
headline being "In response to your
[[Special:FeedbackDashboard/|feedback] ]".

It should be possible to change this before posting the answer, because one
might want to give it a more informative title. Also on multilingual wikis, it
looks very awkward if the headline is English, but the text is in another
language then.

That is not possible at the moment, because the "page restrictions" table does

The "ipblocks" table and the "protected titles" table store information about
the performer of that action and than you can query this information.

With the passage of time and the kicking of the proxy caches that's happened,
this bug has partially disappeared. (I can't reproduce it under normal
conditions)

With debug=true, it still reproduces pretty reliably. However, it may not be
dependent on bug 34409 after all. There is a valid mw.user.options and
mw.user.token object. With debug=false, mw.user.tokens.values.editToken is
"50bbcmumblemumblemumblemumble+\". With debug=true,
mw.user.tokens.values.editToken is "+\"

I was thinking the second one too. The issue with the first one is if the
software goes around replacing all cases of .jpeg with .jpg, it is going to
have to find some way to deal with the existing naming conflicts, and I don't
see how the software would do that without creating a mess.

API edit by page ID

This patch should let you edit through the API by providing a page ID instead
of a page title.

more info, the patrol log is corrupted too, all patrolling seems credited to
editor patrolled, not to the editor patrolling

[Bug 34495] New: patrolling is credited to the user patrolled in IRC recentchanges

recentchanges
   Product: Wikimedia
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: IRC
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: phil...@free.fr
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

on IRC RC #fr.wikisource I saw:

 [[Spécial:Log/patrol]] patrol * Jujens * Jujens a marqué la
révision 3264632 de la page [[Page:Féval - Le Bossu (1857) vol 1-3.djvu/98]]
comme contrôlée

(* Jujens * Jujens has marked rev 3264632 ... as patrolled)

but Jujens has no patrol right.

The log show the patrol was done by user Aristoi on a Jujens contribution so
it's only the comment send to the channel which is wrong
http://fr.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Sp%C3%A9cial%3AJournal&type=patrol&user=Aristoi

I never noticed that before the switch to 1.19, no idea if it's related.

With Chromium, but not Firefox, the diff section of the editor at the URL has
scroll buttons even though it's a single line. The text actually has space
enough to be shown completely so this doesn't produce any actual problem, at
least in this case.

One cannot use core images in extension stylesheets. skins/... work in
non-debug mode where RL leaves the URL untouched, but breaks in debug mode when
the CSS is loaded from different base. Relative urls like ../../skins/... don't
work.
