Don't reply to the impersonator vandal, I think this prevents reverts.

I believe this is because Opera mini doesn't support onkeyup events (on
certain/all devices) [1] which is what triggers the search. I'm yet to find a
pleasant solution however we could enable search on a blur event as fallback.
Have left a TODO note in r112537

[Bug 27619] Remove ? mode for missing links

--- Comment #10 from Marcin Cieślak  2012-02-29

Why don't we make this feature actually *do* something?

I understand caching issues with storing parser results etc., but maybe those
problems are irrelevant given there is probably pretty small community of
text/other non-color, non-CSS browsers around?

Lack of underline color in text browsers and no alternative like "?" *is* a
problem.

Removing this feature reduces chances to fix this problem properly in the
future to zero.

[Bug 34759] Improve SQLite detection, to be able to execute SQLite tests

(In reply to comment #2)
> Is SQLite visible in installer for you?

Yes.
It is visible without the patch.
It is still visible after the patch.

But just to avoid confusion, I do not want to actually /use/ SQLite as backend.
I only want to /run the SQLite tests/, even when I use the MySQL backend. This
is to assure that changing something in one (seemingly unrelated) part of MW
does not accidently break SQLite support.

[Bug 32316] PDF export extension has problem with &&& in RTL wikis

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32316

--- Comment #6 from Volker Haas  2012-02-29
13:16:28 UTC ---
So the situation is the following:

Directionality for styled left-to-right text in right-to-left Wikis is
currently broken.

In order to fix the directionality I would need to disable styling altogether
and all fontswitching.

-> It doesn't seem sensible for me to break two features in order to fix
another feature a little bit.

I am really sorry, but I doesn't seem to make sense to further try improving
the PDF output for right-to-left wikis with the current rendering engine.

Well two identical HTTP GET queries are made, something like:

So we are doubling the API bandwidth here :-)

This is rare enough (and can easily be fixed manually). In the patch, the
checks for the number of newlines and the leading space (pre) could also be
folded into the regexp. Apart from that, it would be a good idea to benchmark
the performance impact from switching the regexp to unicode mode.

The "clicktracking-session" cookie on the en-wiki remains the same before
(anonymous), during (logged in), and after logout. This allows the tracking of
a user after logout until they have cleared their cookies. It also allows the
correlation of logins from "different" users in the same browser session.

The clicktracking-cookie should also be listed in privacy policy:
https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_policy

For how long is clicktracking data kept and what is its purpose (wikipedia
doesn't have advertising...so for whom are the analytics)?

 Bug #: 34795

(1.19 Bug?)
   Product: Wikimedia

 Component: Site requests
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: bugrepor...@to.mabomuja.de
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Field commonswiki.globalimagelinks.gil_page_title should normally contain page
titles using underscores as all page tables do. But sometimes white spaces are
used instead. This config should be changed because it makes querying this
table difficult if regex instead of simple string compare must be used to match
all cases.

This behavior is new, so it may be related to 1.19 update of commonswiki.

Example: dewiki with underscore; eswiki,frwiki with white spaces

select gil_wiki, gil_page, gil_page_title, gil_to from
commonswiki_p.globalimagelinks where gil_to='Castillo_de_Consuegra2.jpg';

Moving back to SVG rendering. SVG rendering is for issues turning SVG images
into PNG's, which is what you're reporting (Its separate from normal image
issues, because its not handled by MediaWiki, but by a program called rsvg).

Its unclear if code-update-regression keyword is appropriate, since that's more
for MediaWiki regressions, where svg->png conversion is handled by a third
party program (Note, as far as I am aware, rsvg was last updated on jan 24).

Recently I was waiting for r112570 to be deployed on https://pl.wikipedia.org/.
I was logged-in and all the time the previous version number (I believe it was
r112130) was displayed there, BUT I then realized by visiting
[[Special:CheckUserLog]] that the problem that r112570 solved (described in
r112562) was fixed - the missing link reappeared; which means the change must
have had been deployed.

Having reliable [[Special:Version]] is very important for troubleshooting
especially with major upgrades when things are moving fast.

Can we do something so that cache for this page is purged on deploy?

[Bug 3922] links are not properly rendered in a BiDi category list

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3922

--- Comment #29 from Philippe Verdy  2012-02-29 16:28:51
UTC ---
I confim that the solution using Bidi overrides is the worst one.
Testing the local language to see if it uses bidi or not is also not a stable
solution.

It is highly preferable to use CSS "unicode-bidi:embed" in separate spans, and
avoid ALL Bidi control characters that are highly dicouraged in HTML.

So a generated code like this will work much better :

Category : Name1 | Name2

Which can be easily generated in the code with:

$push = '';
$pop = '';
$separate = ' | ';
$t = $push . implode($pop . $separate . $push, $wgOut->mCategoryLinks) . $pop;

Each of the first three lines can be customized easily:
* the 1st line here can use a class name to allow other CSS presentation
features (it will include the standard "unicode-bidi:embed" property). No need
to test the default locale of the wiki. This code can be very stable.
* the third line defining the separator should contain at least a standard
space, if the visible separator is made into the CSS properties of spans (using
margins, side borders, and padding).
* I see no reason why the second line would be something else, but it must
match the element name used in the first line, if ever you want to use list
items (...), the whole embedded in ... (the CSS will make it
appear properly), in order to facilitate the integration of other skins (for
example an accessibility skin) and a more semantic tagging.

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3922

--- Comment #30 from Philippe Verdy  2012-02-29 16:34:45

Note that the code generated in

http://yi.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D7%A7%D7%90%D6%B7%D7%B0%D7%A2

is nearly perfect and generates list items. But the CSS forgets to change the
display:inline for the "ul" element contained in the div with class "catlinks".
This is not a problem of Mediawiki itself but of the stylesheet used in that
site.

And just for the record, that Yiddish Wiktionnary always generates (on ALL
pages) an "HTTP 404 Not found" error status on one image, user.gif, referenced
in its monobook skin to be displayed beside the user name at the top of pages.
May be an admin can fix it on that wiki (and check that other wikis are not
concerned in their local Monobook skin, even if the Vector skin is preferred
now... but apparently not by default on that wiki, possibly because of other
integration issues, including for this bug).

Final note: the generated code currently uses the settings of the user for the
preferred language of the user, as well as its preferred. So this would affect
all wikis, and not all users will see the same issues. Mediawiki should not
generate code here with such dependancy.

[Bug 34800] New: Keep classes such as

2012-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34800

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 34800
   Summary: Keep classes such as
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.19
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: History/Diffs
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: mybugs.m...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Currently, the content of RSS feeds such as
https://pt.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=rss&action=purge
includes the classes
* diff
* diff-contentalign-left
* diff-marker
* diff-content
* diff-lineno
* diff-empty
* diffchange
* diffchange-inline
On the other hand, the other classes which are present on the wiki pages are
removed from RSS feeds, making it difficult for the users to customize the
styling of these diffs if they want to do so.

The classes
* diff
* diff-otitle
* diff-ntitle
* diff-addedline
* diff-deletedline
* diff-context
* diffchange
shouldn't be removed by function applyDiffStyle from
http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/branches/REL1_18/phase3/includes/FeedUtils.php?view=markup#l174
The styles should just be copied to the elements, without removing the classes.

Besides, the regex used to detect the classes doesn't match the "diff" and
"diffchange" classes. I'll open another bug specifically about that.

See also bug 34798.

If this is regression, then wouldn't action=purge change the font rendering on
existing SVG images? I tried some, but they didn't render differently. Trying
to re-upload some others.

[Bug 33420] Validator extension: A new "page" type.

As I said, I wrote a "front-end" for Validator to use in templates. So, I have
to have string representation for all the types. I decided not to introduce
more entities but use values of TYPE_xxx constants. So, title type is
represented in PHP code as TYPE_TITLE, and as "title" in template. See example
above.

[Bug 34801] New: Function applyDiffStyle uses regexes which do not detect CSS classes appropriately

 Bug #: 34801
   Summary: Function applyDiffStyle uses regexes which do not
detect CSS classes appropriately
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.19
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Recent changes
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: mybugs.m...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Currently, the function uses the regex
/(<[^>]+)class=(['\"])$class\\2([^>]*>)/
to try to detect the CSS classes. This only works if the element has only one
class and fails for some classes (mentioned on bug 34800) which appear at
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=rss&action=purge
E.g.:
* diff: http://www.rubular.com/r/Q6x0qNBRmo
* diffchange: http://www.rubular.com/r/0ToRFfpvXA

Something like
(<[^>]+)class=(['\"])$class(| .+?)\\2([^>]*>)
would be slightly better:
http://www.rubular.com/r/BGlcrGfRtd
but still wouldn't work in case there is some class before the specified class:
http://www.rubular.com/r/xLWx9MWBSL

Besides, notice that
\"
has only one backslash and
\\2
has two. I don't know what is the proper syntax for this in PHP strings but it
is likely that one of the two needs to be fixed.

[Bug 34802] New: test2.wikipedia.org is not useful for pre-deployment testing *for wikipedia* - HTML version different

 Bug #: 34802

testing *for wikipedia* - HTML version different
   Product: Wikimedia
   Version: unspecified

OS/Version: All

  Severity: trivial

 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: saibotr...@arcor.de

I thought test2.wikipedia.org would be intended to do tests before deployment
to wikipedia/commons. In fact it is totally different in one aspect: it uses
HTML5 (mediawiki's default since some versions) whereas Commons and WIkipedia
continues to use XHTML 1.0.

The errors I found in some scripts of dewp are probably no errors since it
won't get switched to HTML5. Of course at some point in the future it will -
but not now.
not very useful to use a different config there... ;)

So the "bug" is that test2 has "wikipedia" in it's name and that the info about
its existence spread into the Wikimedia community. IF it is just for MediaWiki
then it should be also labeled as such.

Setting the special property 'Has drilldown title" has no effect when used on
mediawiki 1.18 (and higher?). A quick analysis learnt that this may be caused
by usage of the SDBrowseDataPage:execute() function i.s.o. DoQuery().

Created attachment 10129

fix for the bug

When $sdgNumResultsPerPage is set the Special:BrowseData page ignores this
setting. A quick analysis learned that the use of the
SDBrowseDataPage:execute() function i.s.o. DoQuery (when mediwiki version >=
1.18) causes the limit and offset values not to be passed. The SDBrowseDataPage
class should set these members of its base class QueryPage.

Added a patch.

[Bug 34792] SVG Text font-size rendered incorrectly

Saibo  changed:

--- Comment #6 from Saibo  2012-02-29 18:11:58 UTC ---
why should this bug be a regression? was the rendering of this file correct in
the past? Probably not since it was uploaded 2012-02-29. It is well known that
the rsvg renders different from browsers (like Firefox, ...).

A help may be http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:SVG_Check to check
before upload. It also can give you hints what is wrong with your file. I have
tried with your file: it renders similar to FF's rendering and reports no
errors.

A check with gThumb on my PC shows the exact rendering like Wikimedia Commons
(I observed this in the past - it probably also uses rsvg).

Also if I open the svg with inkscape it shows small fonts (although a bit
different rendering).

I had checked with http://validator.w3.org - it reports an invalid svg.

So, all in all, I doubt that is a "bug" which is not known. A first step is to
supply valid SVG code. ;-)
linearGradient id="chloroplast_green" x="0"   should be:
linearGradient id="chloroplast_green" x1="0"

I guess the font sizing is not working properly since you define the sizes in
"em" instead of pixels but I cannot find a definition how large one "em" should
be. All other measurements seem to be defined in pixels. That doesn't look
healthy.
